Had a good walk and run at Tholkappia Poonga, the eco park created within the 358 acres Adyar River estuary. This stretch, known as the Adyar Creek, is one of the last remaining natural wetlands in Chennai ,a fragile ecosystem on the coramendal coast that once supported diverse bird (migratory) and aquatic life. Years of urbanization and pollution had severely degraded the creek. The Adyar River Restoration Trust,by Gov of TN, has been doing phased restoration over the years. One only wishes to see both rivers fully restored with River fronts from their source to the end. Entry is limited and requires an online pass. It would be great if the park opened at 5:30 a.m. instead of 6:30 am. Overall, a much needed green space with crumbling city infra no walkable pathways.

I’m specifically paying attention to the discussion on urban governance and the infrastructural challenges our cities face, in the session at Stanford between K.Annamalai, Tejasvi Surya Office and Shashi Tharoor . All three discussed sensible solutions, ground level reforms, and the need for structural changes, particularly regarding the powers and functioning of mayors. Especially Anna’s very valid point about the direct selection of mayors and the extent of political control over the process which gives a reality check to us.

Since #Bharatanatyam in cinema is being discussed here , especially about who performed it “well”. Almost all cinema heroines who attempted it have done a poor job and cannot truly get it in its real sense. What is shown on screen is far from the discipline, precision, expression, and years of training the art form actually demands. I want to highlight and support real young Bharatanatyam artists who are genuinely talented, rigorously trained, and deeply committed to the art & craft. They deserve far more attention, appreciation, and recognition than the superficial cinematic versions that often get celebrated. Here are young & beautiful students of Divya Nayar

So our predictable guy tmk stops mid way in a concert that happened earlier and says that the meaning is " there is no Ayodhya " . Tmk takes a literal meaning out of context cleverly to show his protest against Ayodhya ram mandir and his whatever secularism, while Thyagaraja 's poetic expression conveys that one cannot find Ayodhya or Rama if he is not found within first. He did not say there is " no Ayodhya " or let Badri masjid remain !!!!! Other chelas picked it up and posted it yesterday specifically. Interestingly, the ones so dedicated about Thyagaraja, don't talk about his other krithis where he actually describes Ayodhya well. kaaru baaru in mukhari is an example. It's dangerous to let the liberal left drag down vaggeyakaras for their narratives. If Shri Thyagaraja was indeed alive in human form today, he would have sung something extempore to celebrate Rama 's return at saketa nagara...like how he sang kanugontini when he found his Rama vigraham in kaveri after looking for days.
