A driver who killed a family of four, including two babies, at a San Francisco bus stop was sentenced to probation. Mary Fong Lau (seen here walking through the courthouse today) dodged jail and prison time. Lau, 80, was speeding when her Mercedes SUV plowed into a West Portal bus stop in 2024, investigators said. A family was waiting to catch the bus for a trip to the zoo. The crash killed Diego Cardoso de Oliveira, his wife, Matilde Pinto, and their two babies. Lau stood up in the courtroom and said, “I want to say to all the family, sorry. Sorry.” Full Story:

A sea lion named “Chonkers” is spending this spring sitting on the dock of Pier 39 in San Francisco. Today he was spotted by KRON4 News reporter Joey Horta . Chonkers’ enormous size stands out from other sea lions sunbathing on the pier’s K-Dock. He is a Steller sea lion, which is a larger-sized species than his California sea lion counterparts. Story:

Shannon O’Connor, also known as “Party Mom,” is on trial for allegedly organizing secret and disturbing alcohol-fueled parties for Los Gatos High School freshmen. A girl who dated O'Connor's son testified, "There was no escape. It was harder to escape from her than her son. She knew my every move. When I started to move on, I was shamed for it." The mother wanted her son’s group of friends to think of O’Connor as one of the “popular girls,” witnesses testified. Video shows an SFMTA driver apparently falling asleep while operating a train packed with passengers in San Francisco. The driver told frightened passengers, "Relax. We’re OK. It just wouldn’t stop."
