A bailey bridge on NH-5 in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh collapsed into the Sutlej river on Monday after an overloaded gravel truck drove onto it. The truck went down with the bridge. The CCTV footage of the collapse is now doing the rounds. The driver survived with minor injuries. Low water levels in the Sutlej prevented what could have been a far worse tragedy. The bridge was the direct link between Shimla, Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur. That connection is now sitting at the bottom of the Sutlej. In Tungeshwar area of Tharali block, Chamoli, local resident Vinod Pandey found his daughter’s Aadhaar card abandoned on the Tungeshwar-Mal Bajwad road.
