Video from Ranikhet. Shared by Mr. Anand Negi, this footage shows three leopards outside his home late at night. Thankfully, no one was harmed. But this is becoming the new normal across Uttarakhand’s hills. Imagine if a child had stepped outside, or someone had walked into the courtyard in the dark. Human-wildlife conflict is no longer a warning. It is a reality unfolding outside people’s homes. Before the next sighting turns into the next tragedy, we need answers, not just alerts.

People carrying torches on the streets for drinking water in Uttarakhand. That alone says everything. Massive protest erupts in Hinsariyakhal, Devprayag after months of severe water shortage, with angry villagers warning that if even basic necessities are not ensured, the agitation will intensify further.

Another angle of the Karnaprayag clash appears to show sharp swords being used while others were engaged in a physical fight with their hands. Respect for faith and religious traditions is non-negotiable. But that cannot prevent a serious discussion about carrying sharp weapons in public spaces when they can be used during moments of anger and conflict. No disagreement should escalate to the point where blades enter the equation. The law must be equal for everyone, regardless of identity, religion or background.

Nagrasu Gurudwara Standoff: DM, SP Talks Fail, Internet Shut, ITBP Deployed Seven Nihang Sikhs have locked themselves inside Gurudwara Langar Dham Saheb in Nagrasu, Rudraprayag. Two rounds of talks with DM Vishal Mishra and SP Niharika Tomar have failed. They are not coming out. Police and ITBP are at the spot, Internet services in the area have been suspended. The Gurudwara Management Committee is also attempting to negotiate. Nothing has worked so far. The root of the anger goes back to June 16. A dispute between Nihang travelers and locals in Karnprayag went unaddressed. The Nihangs allege that the local Gurudwara management never filed a formal complaint in that case. Section 163 has since been imposed in Karnprayag till June 27. Home Secretary Shailesh Bagoli on Saturday warned that those trying to give the matter a communal colour will face strict legal action. IG Garhwal Rajeev Swaroop has been directed to conduct a detailed inquiry.

One of the saddest realities of the hills is that very few doctors or teachers willingly choose to leave the plains and serve here. But those who do often end up becoming part of the mountains themselves. This heartwarming video from Government Nursing College, Chamoli captures the emotional farewell to Dr. Mamta, who served as Principal for nine years. Through the pandemic and beyond, she earned the love and respect of students, colleagues and the local community with her dedication and compassion. As she bid farewell, tears spoke louder than words. The hills may struggle to attract good people, but when they find them, they never let them leave without a piece of their heart.

Amid all the noise online, this heartwarming video from Kasar Devi near Almora stands out for the right reasons. A tourist from London was seen collecting plastic and garbage scattered along the trail instead of ignoring it like most people do. Sometimes outsiders end up respecting the mountains more than those living around them. Uttarakhand is not just a tourist destination. It is Devbhoomi, and keeping it clean is everyone’s responsibility.

#Haldwani #Uttarakhand #RoadSafety

Video from the Bhaniyawala–Rishikesh highway, where people have been protesting for days against the felling of more than 3,000 trees. For the people of Uttarakhand, this is not a new story. Every few years, another forest is marked for cutting. Local people come out to protect the trees. They tie raksha sutras, hug the trunks, file petitions and raise their voices. Then the debate fades, and another patch of forest disappears. This has happened before in Harshil, Khalanga, Almora, Corbett and many other places. The locations change. The story remains the same. For many people in Uttarakhand, this isn’t just about 3,000 trees. It is about watching the same fight being fought again and again.

Dozens of Vehicles Break Down After Fuelling at Rudrapur Petrol Pump, Adulteration Alleged Dozens of vehicles broke down shortly after fuelling at a petrol pump in Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar on the same day. Angry customers returned to the pump and alleged adulteration or excessive ethanol in the fuel. When petrol was drained from affected vehicles on the spot, witnesses claimed the colour varied from tank to tank. The pump management denied adulteration but quietly refunded the money of affected customers and said high ethanol content may have caused the issue in some vehicles. District Supply Officer Vinod Tiwari confirmed the pump has been sealed and an investigation ordered. Action will follow based on findings. Refunding money is not accountability. Someone needs to explain why dozens of vehicles stopped on the same stretch of road on the same day after filling up at the same pump.

Everywhere we’re digging into the mountains, they’re now collapsing and doing so with full “interest.” This video is from an under-construction petrol pump site in Paithani, where a large chunk of the hillside gave way during heavy rains. Nature is responding. Time to rethink what we’re doing. #Uttarakhand #UttarakhandNews

A bailey bridge on NH-5 in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh collapsed into the Sutlej river on Monday after an overloaded gravel truck drove onto it. The truck went down with the bridge. The CCTV footage of the collapse is now doing the rounds. The driver survived with minor injuries. Low water levels in the Sutlej prevented what could have been a far worse tragedy. The bridge was the direct link between Shimla, Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur. That connection is now sitting at the bottom of the Sutlej. Administration has stopped all traffic on the route and alternative roads are being used.

Postman in Chamoli Allegedly Hoarded Mail in Sacks for 18 Months, Never Delivered An Aadhaar card lying on the roadside led to the discovery of sacks full of undelivered mail. In Tungeshwar area of Tharali block, Chamoli, local resident Vinod Pandey found his daughter’s Aadhaar card abandoned on the Tungeshwar-Mal Bajwad road. When he questioned the postman posted in the area, the answers did not satisfy him. Villagers then checked the postman’s room themselves. What they found were three to four sacks stuffed with undelivered mail. Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, bank ATM cards, banking documents and speed post letters meant for residents, all sitting in a room instead of reaching the people they belonged to. According to villagers, mail in this area had not been delivered properly for nearly the past one and a half years. The anger in the area is sharp. People are now demanding a high level inquiry and departmental action against the postman. Important government and banking documents stuck in sacks for over a year means real consequences for real people. Missed bank work, missed deadlines, missed opportunities, all because letters never left a room. The postal department now has a lot of explaining to do.
