To kick off #KwitaIzina20, rangers, trackers, and veterinary experts working in Volcanoes Park had the honour of giving names to newborn gorillas: 🦍 Alliance Umwizerwa named a baby born into the Hirwa family 'Mushumbamwiza', meaning Good Shepherd. The name reflects the dedication of park staff in protecting the gentle giants every day. 🦍 Dr. Gaspard Nzayisenga named a baby from the Matsiko Cyuzozo family 'Unguka', meaning Gain, honouring the infant as a new addition to the family. 🦍 Dieudonné Gato chose the name 'Rufatiro' for another baby in the Matsiko Cyuzozo family.
