Finnish President Alexander Stubb just dropped this absolute banger at the Munich Security Conference. "I don't exclude some kind of investment agreement in the long run with China... instead of leaning in on tariffs and a multipolar world and retaliation, people are going to start saying let's go back to the rules that existed because they were much more stable." My brother in Christ, the only stability that existed was because the US supported that world order at its own expense, while China completely fleeced the system for decades. I'd love for Stubb to explain to me how opening even more market access to China would lead to anything resembling stability, especially as European domestic industry in concerned.

Trump’s tariffs make a lot of sense in the scope of US/China competition. But the absolute pounding Vietnam is about to take doesn’t make any sense to me. Yes target the China loophole but it’s in American interest to build up Vietnam right now. I really hope there are back room negotiations between Washington and a Hanoi that we aren’t privy to.

Yesterday in LA I spotted this CGTN (Chinese State Media) reporter covering the protests. I acknowledged to him that it was interesting CGTN was sending reporters and he got super awkward. This certainly doesn’t prove anything but it makes complete sense that China would be invested in these riots spinning out of control.
