Today, I was officially sworn in at Parliament. I took this Oath in order to serve the people of Arbroath and Broughty Ferry - and declared that my loyalty will always be to the people of Scotland. It is a privilege to serve and represent our communities as your Member of Parliament.

⚡️ Scotland is energy rich. Our people shouldn’t be paying some of the highest energy bills in Europe. The cut to VAT on energy bills is welcome. But while families might save £45 a year, bills remain £600 higher than Labour promised. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scotland has the energy. We need the power to bring bills down for people in Scotland.

While student loans and rising student debt are dominating the conversation at Westminster, it’s worth remembering that the SNP Government scrapped tuition fees in 2008. We did so because we don’t believe anyone no matter their background should face financial barriers to accessing higher education. No one should be punished for choosing to go to university, and education should be based on ability to learn — not ability to pay.
