This is Viscardigasse, a narrow pedestrian street in the historic centre of Munich. It is nicknamed Drückebergergasse which translates as “Shirkers Alley.” When Hitler was in power it was compulsory for pedestrians to do a Nazi salute at a now destroyed shrine to the Munich Beer Hall Putsch on Odeonsplatz round the corner. Citizens who opposed the regime would use this alley Viscardigasse to bypass the Nazi shrine and avoid giving the salute. Such an act of passive civil disobedience earned the nickname Drückebergergasse - “Shirker's Alley.” However undercover Gestapo would monitor who walked down the quiet alley, and if you did it more than once you would be arrested. The bronze trail I’m walking alongside here is an official memorial to those who never came back

Train pulling in at NRG station near to Philly’s excellent Lincoln Field after Curacao vs Ivory Coast. Nice for a stadium to be actually in the city it is advertised to be in. Also makes such a change to be told transport is free back to downtown after the blatant price gouging and greed in Foxboro and the tedious five hour odyssey to Santa Clara and back for the Bay Arena…well done Philly, respect 👊🏼🙏🏼 see also Toronto and Seattle ❤️

I was at Knebworth in 96 to see Oasis and saw the Gallaghers so many times before they split and Wonderwall will always be one of my favourite songs. Got goosebumps watching fans sing along with the players from my view in the Dallas Cowboys press box after England beat Croatia 4-2. Watching on was one of the special moments of my trip to North America and if you’ve been following me you’ll know I’ve been blessed with plenty…❤️
