Is there a less self-aware political leader than Anika Wells? She says that over the last year she has noticed people, even face to face, no longer trust her or the government. She puts this down to “the power of the algorithms.” Her own travel expense scandal aside, her government and party are masters of running scare campaigns, operating dirt units, and now outright lying to the public about core election promises. She is either lying to herself or lying to you. I’d say the latter. There is a clear and concerted scare campaign underway right now to blame all manner of social ills on “algorithms”, in other words, if/then statements and loops. It’s not that there are problems. It’s that you are noticing them, you see.

These proposed laws are an even greater overreach than the hate laws. Those let the minister ban a group without a prior criminal conviction and expressly exclude procedural fairness. “Reasonable grounds” is the standard but that’s essentially superfluous as the minister makes that assessment. These laws let the minister expand what counts as harm and what platforms must police without passing a new Act of Parliament. Even today’s targets are nebulous. How do you decides what promotes “hostile attitudes towards women or gender equality”, or counts as bullying? Could refusing to use someone’s pronouns qualify? Pre Elon Twitter banned you for misgendering. And beyond interpreting those categories, the minister can add entirely new ones. Would you sign a contract that lets the other party add new terms after you’ve signed? It’s not just a huge power grab. It’s extremely bad governance. The government is increasingly leaning into these “when we say so” laws and handing more coercive and investigative powers to unelected bodies like the eSafety Commissioner. It’s the same with the proposed EPA. The more power these quangos have, the more entrenched big government becomes. A future conservative government could win on free speech bit inherit an eSafety Commissioner who continues interpreting “harm” through a progressive lens. Governments change, but the the bureaucracy, its powers and its priorities don’t automatically change with them. Ultimately the question is, do you want to give this minister and the current eSafety Commissioner these power?

Finally, the truth from Kos. Recent migrant communities are single-issue voters, and that issue is family reunions. All the talk about “not being heard” or “not being spoken to properly” is peripheral. The real question is whether you will keep allowing mass migration. Kos references his Greek family background. From 1949 to the 1980s, only about 250,000 Greeks moved to Australia. Of that a third came through the assisted migration program. The rest came through family reunion and related pathways. That means today, of the masses of new residents, every student who gets PR, every “skilled visa” we hand out, puts a whole family in the pipeline.

Third Worldist conspiracy theory podcaster Antoinette Lattouf doing the “it’s not happening, but if it was it’s a good thing” on left-wing terrorism. Apparently left-wing terrorism is distinct from right-wing terrorism in that it’s justified?? This, in a segment that strongly implies the AFP are working on behalf of the Trump administration to create a false narrative of rising left-wing extremism.

“He believes in foreign globalists!” Are we really doing this, guys? Are we going to pretend that globalists don’t exist? Globalists are simply people who want to shift power away from nation-states and towards international institutions. Many will openly and proudly tell you as much. For example, the ABC and Patricia Karvelas’ political instincts are clearly on the side of multiculturalism, high immigration, and international frameworks and agreements. In other words, they’re globalists. Shock, horror. The nationalists oppose the globalists.

Moderate Liberal and former minister Amanda Vanstone says Pauline Hanson “doesn’t get who we are”, that “unless you have Indigenous blood in you” you are a migrant, and that migration is “our lifeblood.” She advises the Liberals to go hard attacking One Nation on their views on multiculturalism. Worth noting that, like fellow moderate George Brandis, Vanstone was not known for electoral campaigning or fundraising. She was a factional moderate, not someone whose authority came from winning marginal seats or raising money for campaigns.

You have to understand chain migration in the context of Labor/Labour-style politics. “Community leaders” who help facilitate migration and settlement build loyalties that last generations. But the moment you try to limit migration, as Labour is now attempting, you get the rise of the likes of the Gaza independents who are explicitly sectarian. Why do you think Labour-adjacent outlets like The News Agents and Novara Media are suddenly giving this so topic so much of a run?

When the ABC isn’t airing documentaries depicting the brutal torture and murder of prominent Australian conservatives, it’s airing documentaries about *not* finding Nazis in Berlin. Seriously. A week before what now appears to have been a devastating Islamist attack on Berlin Pride, this ‘Race Around the World’ contestant made a documentary about Nazis terrorising Berlin’s LGBT community. She couldn’t even find Nazi graffiti. You might think this would create some cognitive dissonance. Instead, their absence merely proved how cowardly and insidious they were.

It’s Monday morning, which means it’s time for Labor to debut this week’s talking point on One Nation. Just so we’re up to speed, the latest lines are that Hanson thinks you are paid too much and are too hard to sack, that Labor just wants to give you a tax cut but One Nation won’t let them, that they want abortions harder to get and guns easier to buy, and nothing is Labor’s fault. It was Covid, Ukraine, and Iran. Then there was this weird manipulative thing where she kept rattling off numbers about how much Labor has supposedly benefited Barnaby’s electorate specifically, which was presumably some rhetorical trick. If he pushed back, they could then say Barnaby doesn’t want his constituents to have Medicare or the usual disingenuous stuff that no longer works.

Sorry but this is not an accurate reflection of what Sakkal said. He seems to be one of the few journos that actually gets One Nation. He recognises that its support is not a protest, it’s not grievance, it’s a genuine movement and it’s not going away anytime soon.
