The new head of Ukraine’s National Memory Institute, Oleksandr Alfiorov, says Putin can’t be compared with Hitler because Hitler - he believes - was highly educated and influenced by German philosophy and art (fact check: Hitler didn’t have a university degree). He also adds that Russians can’t be compared to Germans (of the Holocaust period), because Germans are highly cultured and Russians are worse than Orcs and more like goblins. Alfiorov is an alumni of the original Azov and of the 3rd detached assault brigade which is controlled by Azov movement’s political leadership. The first neo-nazi in charge of a government institution in Europe, perhaps. Via Politika Strany

Putin tells journalists - in passing - that he thinks the conflict is coming to an end. He also claims the West wanted to destroy Russian statehood a few months into the conflict. That must be his answer to “Kyiv in three days” meme. Both sides in this war grossly distort and exaggerate the other side’s intentions so as to claim they’ve averted something terrible through insane escalation.

Police was called to a night club in Odessa and Zelensky-appointed military administration made a condemning statement after a Russian-language song was aired at a night club - and the audience sang it together rather enthusiastically, as you can see in the video. Making Russian a protest language for the Ukrainian youth will be an amazing achievement of ethnonationalist nation builders. Meanwhile, language ombudsman complains that children, including her own, use Russian language more and more.

Lviv mayor Andriy Sadovy says that the impact of Oreshnik missile strike on critical infrastructure was horrible, but it would have been on a totally different scale had it been carrying a warhead. He also says the hypersonic missile didn’t show up on any radars and that Ukraine has nothing to counter this kind of weapon. Via Strana

Rubio’s statement about the US potentially withdrawing from peace process within days sounds like a threat to Ukraine and maybe even to the EU, rather than to Russia. We’ve spent billions of dollars on Ukraine, now we need to move on, he says. He mentions EU sanctions as a factor in the negotiations, which basically means the Russians insist on lifting those sanctions as part of the deal and that the EU can derail the talks if it refuses to lift them. The threat is basically that Ukraine and the EU may end up facing Russia on their own, without American help. That suits the Kremlin even as it would most probably prefer a US-mediated deal to succeed as it would fix its de-facto victory (as it understands it).

Canada-based grandson of Stepan Bandera says - with heavy English accent - that Ukraine needs another Bucha for everyone to switch to Ukrainian. This has always been the gist of OUN’s strategy - provoking reprisals against innocent civilians in order to swell their ranks. Via Strana.

A call for peace that’s more indicative than most political statements by senior leaders. Azov Movement leader and 3rd detached assault commander Andriy Biletsky says that ceasefire “on any conditions” effective on Jan 20 (Trump’s inauguration day) or later would not be a catastrophe, instead Ukraine could embark on modernisation and avoid sliding into anarchy. The far right are major beneficiaries of this war and Azov is a massive war business best comparable with Prigozhin’s former Wagner empire. Yet, he is calling for peace. Clip via Politika Strany.

Ukraine’s Western-backed anti-corruption body NABU has posted a teaser for the alleged 1000 hours of recorded conversations that happened in the apartment of Zelensky’s business partner Tymur Mindich and may have involved Zelensky himself. Having raided Mindich’s property today, NABU said it is uncovering a “high-level” corruption ring dealing with energy sector. The current recordings is a series of clips from different conversations between two men identified by code names who converse in Russian. The context of their conversation only makes sense to people in the know (as in Zelensky’s entourage) - the publication appears to be aimed primarily at them. At the end, there is a short remark by a third man code-named Karlsson who says in Ukrainian: “I don’t want to be notified of being a suspect”. All in all, Ukraine continues to live by the same rules as in Kuchma’s time quarter a century ago. Private conversations between leading politicians, recorded by security bodies, serve to trigger political crisis. Security bodies in question (or their elements) keep working as tools of political rivalry between mafia state clans - until of course one of them completes a Putin-esque state capture which Ukraine is perpetually on the verge of. In the fierce battle between the West-backed NABU and Zelensky-backed SBU, the latter is stronger domestically because it controls the entire system of political persecution and repression. But an all-out war on NABU will cost Zelensky Western support of Ukraine. That’s his core dilemma and the leverage the West (e.g. Trump administration) can use in order to achieve specific outcomes. We might have reached a critical point in the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, in a gist.

Just like that, leading Ukrainian investigative journalist Denys Bihus admits that he works for SBU’s military counter-intelligence department. He says he is proud to work for SBU and will continue. Guess the attribution of his investigations, old and new, is kind of clear now.

The outrage with Musk’s nazi salute is well-deserved, but those in the anti-Trump camp today have spent 10 years closing their eyes and whitewashing the fledgling cult of nazi collaborators as well as contemporary neo-nazis that are part of Ukraine’s mainstream today. Countless senior Western politicians routinely end their Ukraine speeches on the OUN chant causing ovations, not outrage - and this is just a tip of the iceberg. The satire below is so very much about them. The far right habit of trolling the “normies” by claiming that what they see has nothing to do with nazism as at the heart the mainstream political culture that developed in the pro-Ukraine camp over years. One of senior Azov military commanders, Dmytro Kukharchuk, sends all pro-Ukraine “liberals” warm greetings - from the heart to the sun.
