In a swift response to the unfortunate acts of political violence witnessed on the eve of the Osun State Governorship election, I conducted an on-the-spot assessment and inspection of the residences of several Accord leaders whose homes were attacked and heavily vandalized. The inspection covered affected residences across Ikire and Ikoyi, including the homes of Hon. Ambali Taye Kondo in Ikoyi, Hon. Owodunni Abiodun (Wocco), and Hon. Taofeeq Ajagun (Ultimate) in Ikoyi. I also visited the residence of Akinola Paul (Halleluyah) at Oke Awo, Ikire; the residence of Commissioner for Energy, Hon. Festus Adeyemo; Alhaji Lateef at Moro, Ikire; and Hon. Nureni Owoade in the Amukuku area of Ikire. During the visit, I personally assessed the extent of the damage and expressed my heartfelt sympathy to the affected leaders, their families, and supporters. I strongly condemned the attacks as unwarranted, cowardly, and completely unacceptable in a democratic society. Political differences should never be allowed to degenerate into violence, destruction, intimidation, or attacks on the homes and properties of fellow citizens. Democracy is built on tolerance, dialogue, respect for differing opinions, and the freedom of every citizen to support the political party or candidate of their choice. I commended the affected leaders for their doggedness, courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to their political convictions, despite the intimidation and destruction they have endured. I assured them that their sacrifices, courage, and contributions to the peace and development of their communities will not be in vain. I am deeply grateful to the affected leaders and community members for their warm reception and for appreciating my presence at this difficult moment. Their words of encouragement further strengthened my resolve to continue standing with our people, particularly when they face difficult and challenging circumstances. The affected leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to peace, assuring me that they would remain calm, law-abiding, and steadfast in their political beliefs. Their courage in the face of provocation is commendable and worthy of recognition. I also assured the victims, affected leaders, and residents that appropriate security and administrative channels will continue to be engaged to ensure that the perpetrators are identified and brought to justice. Nobody should be above the law, and every citizen deserves protection regardless of political affiliation. I therefore appeal to all Accord members, supporters, and residents across the affected local government areas to remain calm, peaceful, resilient, and law-abiding. I specifically urge everyone to reject any temptation to retaliate. Violence will only deepen the pain and create further division among our people. As leaders, we must rise above provocation and continue to defend democracy through lawful and peaceful means. Violence has no place in a free and democratic society. I call on the relevant security and law-enforcement authorities to conduct a thorough, impartial, and speedy investigation into these attacks and ensure that those responsible face the full weight of the law. Our people deserve peace. Our communities deserve security. And our democracy must be protected. I remain committed to standing with our people and working for peace, justice, fairness, and the continued progress of Osun State.

Earlier today, I addressed a World Press Conference in my capacity as the Director-General of the Imole Campaign Council (TICC) on the disturbing rise in political violence in Osun State and the tragic killing of 14-year-old Ezekiel Olapade in Ilobu, Irepodun Local Government Area. With deep sorrow, I condemned the gruesome murder of the innocent teenager and demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of Saheed Kareem, popularly known as "Tanfeani," and every individual connected with this heinous crime, following the public identification of the gang leader by the police. I warned that political violence is fast becoming a dangerous trend in Osun State, posing grave threats to peace, security, and democratic stability. I noted that the unfortunate incident in Ilobu is not isolated, but part of a disturbing pattern of violence that has claimed lives and endangered citizens in Ikire, Ilesa, Owode-Ede, Osogbo, and other parts of the state. I called on the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu TUNJI DISU, psc(+), NPM Nigeria Police Force and Nigeria Police Force_CRU, to order a comprehensive investigation into all incidents of political violence and ensure that perpetrators, sponsors, and collaborators are brought to justice irrespective of their political affiliations or social status. I also expressed our lack of confidence in the leadership of the Osun State Police Command under Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gottan, citing the recurring incidents of violence and the growing public perception of selective law enforcement. Consequently, I called for his immediate redeployment and a thorough investigation into the apparent operational failures under his watch. Furthermore, I appealed to the National Human Rights Commission, civil society organisations, election observers, diplomatic missions, and the international community to closely monitor developments in Osun State before the situation degenerates further. As supporters of His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, and members of the Accord family, we remain committed to peace, democracy, and the rule of law. However, peace can only endure where justice prevails and accountability is guaranteed. Enough is enough. No society can prosper under the shadow of politically motivated killings. We demand justice for young Ezekiel Olapade and all victims of violence. Those responsible must be arrested and prosecuted, and every institution charged with protecting lives must rise to its constitutional duty. The people of Osun State deserve peace, security, and a democracy free from fear and bloodshed. #JusticeForEzekielOlapade #SayNoToPoliticalViolence #RedeployIbrahimGottanFromOsunState #PeaceForOsun #Imole2026 #ImoleCarryOnAccordingly

Tonight, I strongly condemn the reported abduction of Mr. Kasumu Simiyu, Treasurer of Accord Ward 07, Ilesa East Local Government, and Mr. Dagunduro Iyiola, an Accord member, following a violent attack at Value Mall, Okesa, Ilesa, carried out by APC armed thugs led by Lucifer and Lasisi. The assailants arrived in a branded Toyota Sienna vehicle associated with APC leader and aspirant Hon. Kujenbola. Video recordings of the incident are also said to have been captured by individuals present at the scene. I call on the Presidency Presidency Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu, The Nigerian Senate, Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu TUNJI DISU, psc(+), NPM Nigeria Police Force and Nigeria Police Force_CRU, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Ajayi, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu Nuhu Ribadu, and all relevant security agencies to immediately conduct a thorough, impartial investigation and ensure that anyone found responsible, regardless of status or political affiliation, is brought to justice. #GotanMustGo #OsunCPMustGo #ProtectOsunVoters

I am a seasoned politician who has been in public service since 1992, when I served as a Member of the House of Representatives, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was also a Senator. In my 2019 Senate bid, Bola Oyebamiji did not support me, and again in 2023 I still sought his support but did not receive it, so it is unfair to now assume my support is necessary for his political relevance. Despite political differences, I have remained focused on impactful representation, including raising three motions on the Ibadan–Ilesa–Ife Expressway, which contributed to federal attention and intervention on the project, for which I commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
