![As always everyone is blind staring at the progress of LLMs for coding and chat But meanwhile the new SOTA video model Seedance 2.5 has been slowly rolling out and it's really quite exceptional It's made by ByteDance (TikTok) who of course have lots of training data With just a few reference pics, it can get quite close to how you look IRL and you can do quite professional video shots with just a prompt I'd say it's the first video model that's now at the level of image models with the level of character likeness, cracking that in image models also took about 3 years (2022-2025) Generating 15 seconds takes about 4 minutes I put it live now on Photo AI, you can use it under [ Make video ] from the sidebar with just a prompt and your model selected! So you don't need to take an AI photo first and then turn that into a video! 🇵🇱 Warsaw is Poland's biggest city and it is completely safe at 1am at night No violent junkies, no drug dealers, no street thugs hanging around harassing women (and men), no pickpockets (nor in the day btw) No shady people hanging around the train and metro stations Just people living chill together and police enforcing safety You know like we used to in Western Europe? 🇵🇱 Okay my final Poland video because we're leaving soon! It was really fun and we had a great time I liked Warsaw most to be honest, a very modern city, a bit like East Asia in terms of modernity, with rapid delivery services and apps, everything just works great and fast I'm not saying it's perfect btw, there's moments where you still realize it's Eastern Europe (or as they'd like to call it Central Europe) but then the difference is they generally solve problems fast and pragmatically Many shops you go will actually have a long line at the checkout, annoying, but usually there's a second checkout but it's closed That's because Poland too has a big labor shortage, one of the lowest fertility rates in Europe, so they too kinda have to import people, but they choose to import them from Ukraine and Belarus (and some South Asians actually too) But wait, so that checkout line is closed yes? I'm so used to Portugal where there is zero incentive to then open another checkout counter but in Poland usually within a few minutes they notice it's busy and open another counter. I know, basic stuff but hard to come by these days. They're fast and pragmatic Ordering flowers for my gf was easy, the flower shop has an IG (but I don't) so I msg them over Whatsapp, they immediately respond, give me some options, I say what I want, address, payment link with Stripe (!) and done delivered at my hotel by a nice guy. All soooo smooth. Fast response, friendly people. Things just work here! Poland has done a great job keeping bad immigrants out while bring good immigrants in. The Ukrainians and Belarussians are neighbors and their cultures overlap strongly with Poland. So they fit in easily. Same cultures, same religions, same routines etc. for the most part A young Polish Uber driver I talked to said to him Krakow (his city) looks just like Lviv in Ukraine, so it's easy for Ukranians in Poland to integrate There's a lot of police presence in places, and military vehicles also (probably cause of the Ukraine war), the security at the Warsaw Airport is not done by some 5 layer outsourced company with staff that hates you, but by friendly people from the Polish Border Guard (Straż Graniczna) wearing military uniforms Warsaw has lots of skyscrapers now, and actually the tallest in Europe now at 310 meters is the Varso Tower, crazy! Poland is a booming economy and growing fast. When you're growing of course it's easy to make things go well. I'd say it's important for Poland to look ahead carefully and don't make the same mistakes that Western Europe did when everything was going well and we were very rich We became complacent, stagnant, added regulatory burdens, became overly obsessed with climate change and the environment, and imported the lowest quality tier of people from cultures that hate our guys and are diametrically opposed to Western culture That last part is especially interesting considering Poland's history, where 6 million (!) or 20% of the country was ruthlessly murdered in World War II I think that gives them the power to not have to be politically correct about immigration like Germany, because Poland after all was the victim, while Germany then was the purpetreyor. Which is why Germany does have to be so politically correct about it, due to extreme historical guilt You walk on the streets of Poland in the day and at night and you see the difference what sane policy does to daily life We're all dealing with the echoes of history So my message to my Polish friends: don't make the same mistakes Western Europe did and you will soon be the richest, safest, most modern country in Europe and hopefully then have the power to be the new leader of Europe And maybe you can then save Europe as a whole!! It worked Of course it worked! It never ever doesn't work right? I vibecoded my own Spotify that works with Amazon Alexa and plays all my own MP3 music files 😊 Claude Code calls it the 🎶 Jukebox I put some coffee jazz MP3s (that I purchased) in an R2 bucket, made an Alexa skill in the Alexa Developer Console with help from Claude Code and now it plays it if I ask "Alexa, coffee jazz" It wrote a package.json and index.js, then I saved and built it on the console. Then I had to manually add a Routine to Alexa so that "Alexa, coffee jazz" became "Alexa, ask the jukebox to play coffee jazz" It also has Bossa Nova and Lofi and I can just drop music in whenever I want and it auto plays it Spotify with Alexa was giving me really terrible recommendations of music and always the same and the only thing I used it for was this! So I guess I can cancel Spotify now too 🙏

💾 Two years ago I started working on these crazy nostalgia projects, kind of randomly, because I was bored and wanted to do something different than just build another SaaS or AI app/website I wanted to try to run Windows 3.1 inside a web browser, and to do that properly already took me months When that worked well enough, I wanted to build a dial up internet connection so it could browse the web, with the basic levels of AI back then, that was VERY hard, and I'd just go around in circles forever. Finally I had to find the only person in the world who got that working James Baicoianu and beg him to help me make it work, and we did it! Then I started hosting classic games like Quake with full multiplayer, porting them to WASM, or if not already like Quake III by Luka and hosting those with a full multiplayer server ready-to-go in your browser And then I spent 6 months trying to reverse engineer Windows XP to run on v86 by 燭へしコピペbot, very difficult (because it's so big) and only possible because modern AI like Opus 5.5 is good enough to figure that out For the last two years pretty much nobody cared about any of these projects, I'd tweet them into the void, which was fine because I thought it was very fun just for myself But now with this wave of AI-assisted reverse engineering WASM ports of games and apps to web they're finally taking off, pretty much anything is portable to WASM on web now, and if you add server to it via WebSockets, people can instantly play with each other, or interact inside apps you host, it's super cool Every game and app I have on pieter™ now is full or almost full to the limit, yesterday 80,000 people played around in Windows 3.1 or Windows XP inside their browsers chatting to MSN and AOL Messenger AI bots and playing 3D Pinball or playing Quake etc. And that was my idea for pieter™: a non-commercial preservation project, kinda like an online computer museum but interactive! The most cool thing to pay respects to these old games, apps and OSes I think is to keep them alive by making them easily and freely accessible, playable on mobile so old and new generations of people can jump back in the past interactively This is one of my first projects to take off that does not, can not and will not make money because it's non-profit, and that's fine Every time I tweeted about these projects would always ask me "but why?" Because it's really fun! 🤩

💧 For years I was brought up in the Netherlands being told we had the "best tap water in the world" "The Americans are silly for buying bottles of mineral water, you can just drink from the tap!" I remember the same sentiment with my German friends When I stayed at the VOCO hotel in The Hague a few months ago, there were no water bottles but a paper note saying "Do like the locals do! Drink from the tap" Now it turns out Dutch tap water is and probably was full of toxic chemicals and plastics Today actually we finally installed a Reverse Osmosis (RO) system in our home (or well the plumber did) by Waterdrop (unaffiliated, unpaid, recommended by Claude) RO seems to the best and most pure water filtration system out there I will let you know how the coffee tastes tomorrow with it! 😋

IT WORKS!!!!! A FULL multiplayer with Python websockets server that receives and broadcasts all player positions every 100ms (10 times per second) All code written almost 100% by AI with Cursor and Grok 3 wrote the server code Now you can fly around with everyone else :D It'll probably crash after this tweet but let's try! The reason before it didn't move was it was stale players that already quit and it kept their positions Every red plane is someone real flying now too! 😊

My biggest shock today was that America still has post offices, like ones you can actually walk into with your stuff and package it and they help you send it out We don't have them in most of Europe anymore You have tiny little counters in dirty tobacco shop and a tiny DPD or DHL or PostNL branded counter with agressive staff that really do not want to help you, and no they don't have boxes Here's a FedEx post office we walked in today, they have envelopes, boxes, bubble wraps, everything! You'll say but FedEx is private, yes you mean like most European postal companies now that are also private? Just something as basic as this is abundance and we don't have it anymore in Europe

🇵🇹 I tried to make an Urban Terror map of Lisbon with Opus 5.5 and it worked! It uses the real OSM maps data of the center area around Praça do Comércio with real buildings It's not fully exact but a nice approximation, I've always wanted to be able to to multiplayer games in actual REAL cities with friends so now we can I put it as the main map on now 😊
