Mid-August 2016, I flew by helicopter from Glenmere Mansion to my usual West Side heliport in Manhattan. I used helicopters for weekly transport then. On this lovely afternoon, I asked the pilot if he could fly me above Manhattan. He said it’s not allowed; helicopters besides NYPD must fly only above rivers. I persisted, so he asked ATC. They granted us authorization to enter the highly restricted Class B airspace over New York City. I got the best views of the city and this close to Empire State Building, just sick. Still having goosebumps looking at this video. I had an amazing time living in Manhattan. World was an oyster. The best part? After landing, I went to a dinner where I connected with my future husband. A day to remember overall 🩷🌺
