People love to speculate whether I’m “still Mormon”. On paper it may seem like I’m not anymore because I actively support the LGBTQ+ community, I wear sleeveless shirts sometimes and now “SHE DRINKS COFFEE!” For waaaay too long I defined my connection to God by a huge lists of rules and that lead to so much shame. I don’t let shame govern me anymore and surprisingly, I’ve felt God’s love more than ever. The fact is, I love my Mormon faith upbringing and the connection with God it gives me. I also LOVE all the beautiful things I’ve learned from other religions. I think God gives truth everywhere. So y’all will just have to keep speculating and gossiping about whether or not I’m still Mormon cus my coffee and I aren’t gonna tell you.

I hope you loved the Echo in the Dark music video. Since I was a kid I loved seeing how things were made. I love behind the scenes clips and hearing directors share their process of creation. I feel so lucky that I get to dream up these ideas, direct them and bring them to life.

Several years ago my drummer deleted his Tinder profile as he told me he was over dating apps. "But" he continued, he didn't want to be rude so he was going to go on one last date with a girl he'd already matched with. That girl was his now wife. Turns out she had independently decided the same thing and had already deleted her Tinder as well. She'd also bought the 2 cats she'd always wanted (but she thought a man wouldn't want). Turns out their intuition was right; they didn't need those dating apps after all. This story teaches me 2 things: 1. You have to take that one step past where you think you can't go any further. 2. Often times your happy ending is just on the other side of that extra hard last step. Also, don't wait on life. Get your version of "the cats" and life will show up.
