NEW Russian anti-drone bullets. Russia’s state defense conglomerate a new innovative ammunition that splits into three projectiles after it's fired. The bullets are in both 5.45mm and 7.62mm calibers. Each cartridge contains a three-part projectile made from a special copper-alloy composite. The spin from the rifled barrel stabilizes the cluster so it can be used with modern muzzle brakes, while the controlled spread raises the probability of striking fast, agile drones. Developers state the smaller round stays effective to about 150 meters and the larger version reaches roughly twice that distance. During testing the ammunition showed reliable barrier performance, consistently penetrating 25 mm of wood backed by thin steel at 100 meters. The key benefit is simplicity: the magazines for these bullets fit into existing rifles, which eliminates the need to carry a separate dedicated anti-drone weapon. The bullets can also be created in existing production lines and don't need specialised manufacturing sites.
