A deeply horrifying incident has been reported from Gautam Nagar in the Etmadpur police station area of Agra district. According to the victim’s mother who is from Dalit community, Parvez had been harassing her daughter continuously for the past one year. He used to eve tease her on the way and pressure her into marriage. Despite repeated refusals and objections, he did not stop his actions. On Tuesday (April 28), the accused came to their house with his mother and proposed marriage, which the Dalit family clearly rejected. Later, around 9:30 PM, he forcibly entered the house again. At that time, only the daughters were present at home. The accused pressured the elder daughter for marriage, and when she refused, he grabbed her and began dragging her. The younger sister tried to intervene, but the accused overpowered her and forcibly dragged the young woman out of her home. It clearly shows that the state and police are failing to protect Dalit women. No civilized society should stay silent on such incidents. But in a casteist society, people simply don’t care and carry on as if nothing happened.
