Cheers to Brisbane, Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Sydney, Auckland and — especially — Melbourne. Thrilled to spotlight a world-class city. Now rushing back to MCG North in my time machine — 49ers practice started 50 minutes ago but I’ll make it in time! 🙏🏼 🥂

Melburnians who hadn't previously been fans of the 49ers celebrated at SF's team bar after the game, including this guy — who's already planning a trip to the Bay Area to catch a game. “It wasn’t just win. It was the start of a relationship, the relationship between San Francisco and not just Melbourne — but Australia. Melbourne is the sporting capital of the world. And we get behind any team, but seeing how San Francisco has come over here and immersed themselves in our culture and our community — the love goes both ways. We love it. “You guys haven’t just come over here and won. You guys have come over here and captured our hearts. We are San Francisco. Melbourne, San Francisco. That’s it, mate."

Great insight from Australian 49ers fans Anthony and Tom. They say that the 49ers' early arrival has won over the 50-50 fans of this sports-crazed city. Then, this — also notable: "Overseas teams have come over [in other sports]. But no one has really done what the 49ers have done and embraced the community and gotten involved. It's been unheard of. The way they've done it is unbelievable. "I really think going forward you're going to have so many new generations of [Australian] 49ers fans." Hearing this from people familiar with Australian sporting culture certainly gives it more weight...
