watching the concept trailer after kaiten and it’s crazy how much made it into the movie + what might’ve been hints at what’s next. i think kaiten’s strongest aspect is its theme of saviors losing themselves to their role so these lines as the next movie’s intro would go hard

yk what, i can still be happy w this ending. it’s one of those cases where an ambiguous ending for a ship actually makes sense, both for the characters & their bittersweet separation after high school, while still leaving room to naturally assume they ended up together in the end

She went on dates with Luca and talked to him regularly, yet her heart never moved for him. If anything, she almost turned into foam. But just seeing a low-quality pic of Mari was enough to make her speed across the water just to see her again. C’mon, can it be any more obvious?

mari’s personality made it hard for her to make friends as a kid and after her mom died, she was probably pretty lonely too. so grace’s bad attitude probably felt like finding someone like her. and the “you don’t need to die yet” line, immediately followed by her mom’s cross… 🙁
