🚨 Abhimanyu Easwaran on Rohit Sharma's elite preparation for test cricket: The first time I joined the Indian team in 2021, I closely observed Rohit Bhai's preparation. Most of his practice involved facing side-arm throwdowns aimed around the off-stump and fourth-stump line. His main focus was deciding which balls to play and which to leave. Once he mastered that discipline, he knew he had the skills to succeed against any bowler in the world. Rohit has every shot in the book and can score runs in all conditions. But as an opener, especially after moving to the role in 2019, he understood that off-stump discipline was crucial. Before the 2021 England tour, he worked extensively on that aspect of his game. He already knew his strengths, pulls, cuts, flicks, and other attacking shots, but he realized that playing the right balls and leaving the right balls would give him the best chance of success. Every practice session had a clear purpose. Top players don't just bat for two hours without a plan. They come to the ground with specific goals, whether it's working on a particular batting skill, bowling a certain number of deliveries, or targeting specific areas. The key is to keep practice simple, specific, and purposeful.
