SELF DEFENSE LESSONS: In a street fight one of the best techniques to use is the hook. In fact people who grow up in risky neighborhoods learn fast to focus 90% of their effort utilizing the hook punch. Why? Because almost anyone you're likely to duke it out with - unless they happen to be trained fighters - do not expect strike to come from the side, and are defenseless in this zone. Once they get rocked by a few blows to the ear/temple, they're likely to lose the confidence to continue. And if you lower your punches a bit to do some body work to the ribs, you have an even better chance, men typically and instinctively ignore defending the side of the body, focusing entirely on blocking strikes to the head and face.
