people seem unaware how Daffy was already evolving into his “Chuck Jones personality” pretty early on, as in You Ought To Be In Pictures where he convinces Porky to leave the studio as a way to take his place and be the star, made only 3 years after his debut.

Ending scene from 1944’s Plane Daffy directed by the great Frank Tashlin. Obviously the best cartoon endings are the ones where nazis (in this case Goebbels and Goering) shoot themselves

great example of looney tunes referencing a ton of popular celebrities in 1946 that people now might recognize more for being caricatured in other cartoons (though everybody really should know people like abbott &amp; costello, laurel &amp; hardy, etc)

Watching this 1960s IBM industrial film featuring Rowlf the Dog in 4K and it is amazing. Want to say that the guy that Rowlf tries to sell a typewriter to in this is a young Frank Oz but not 100% sure

Here’s a cool scene from another Betty Boop cartoon now also in the public domain called Barnacle Bill. This was animated by Grim Natwick and is full of so many weird and very off model expressions that are so good.

Another new to the public domain Betty Boop/Bimbo short titled Mysterious Mose with some more great loose and fluid animation by Grim Natwick again I believe

Here’s another public domain cartoon titled The Office Boy featuring some mickey mouse knock off characters made by Van Beuren studios. Disney ended up threatening to sue unless they stopped making more, which they did, and nothing of value was lost.

Here’s a public domain WWII Looney Tunes cartoon titled The Ducktators where some nazi ducks in the roles of the Axis leaders are beat up and have their heads put on display as wall trophies. Some stereotypes are present but still a nice example of what to do with fascists.

Even more Jim Henson stuff. Here are some commercials from the mid 60s that are very reminiscent of the earlier Wilkins Coffee ones, albeit with Kermit and advertising bread instead.

more Jim Henson stuff. here’s an abstract animated short he made at his house in the early 60s titled Shearing Animation. The music used is that of jazz musician Chico Hamilton and works really well with the cutout style here.

Here’s a clip of the third and final Betty Boop short to enter the public domain this year titled Accordion Joe. Interesting to see how the animators really don’t care much about consistent character sizes as opposed to making fun stuff that works for the scene

remember seeing this ren and stimpy fake commercial bit on tv at like 4 am as a nine year old and liking how the designs differed some from the typical style
