Most men today would not have the courage. Three years ago, I traced my direct paternal lineage back to 1077 in Scotland. My family, the Rose Clan, was loyal to Scotland & fought under the direct command of Robert the Bruce to win the war against England—starving & outnumbered. Something about those bagpipes hits the soul somewhere deep🇺🇸🏴

A group of self-loathing Americans want me to apologize for my “Pro-American” take on the discovery of Olmec civilization & dropping the A-bombs on Japan. The fact is: the initial discovery, excavations & studies of the Olmecs were led by Americans who overcame a lot of hardship & scrutiny. These days, Olmec archaeology rests in the hands of Mexican archaeologists & they do a great job. As for Japan: anyone apologizing for winning the nuclear war doesn’t know enough about the way the Japanese Empire operated—or how they treated prisoners of war & their own soldiers. The Japanese brought that upon themselves… and many of their high ranking leaders knew it too. Anyway, sugar-coated history (where everyone has to preface & apologize before every other sentence) is getting old.
