🐎 Retired racehorses More Importance (Sunny) and Moon Rising (Lunar)

Shorts

(Using an old video of myself as an example rather than stealing someone else’s video lol) An example of how a young foal should be handled, from the body. They don’t understand the pressure/release of a halter yet, and yanking on their head can seriously injure them

This video of Lunar has well over 6m views now and the truth is she didn’t even make contact with me. Lol

Something I feel needs attention. Why on earth is a legend such as Sea The Stars having a chain across his gums yanked around when he’s behaving and walking just fine, in a calm manner?

Unlike Lunar, who refused to let me put the hat on her head and instead had to become the Birthday Rhinoceros, Sunny was more willing to wear the hat. 🎉 Here he is with a birthday carrot

Educational post - The behaviour you see in this video is not cute or funny, so if you see horse accounts posting it, please don’t think it’s a cute or quirky thing… it is called windsucking/cribbing, and is harmful to the horses wellbeing. 🧵 (Explaining below) +

Probably the coolest video I’ve ever taken if I do say so myself… 🤭 The great grey, Chautauqua, rearing right infront of me!

Throwback to two years ago now, when an Australian racehorse found her way onto a train station. The mare, named Scottish Pearl, stood politely behind the yellow line, even as a train pulled in. She was later collected by her caretakers. 😆 She’s still an active racehorse!

Lunar’s favourite activity is rolling. It makes her so happy that she gets up, kicks around and squeals. It sounds like she’s saying ‘yipee!’

BLACK CAVIAR — all 25 starts, 25 wins. 15 Group 1’s. With conversations stirring around great sprinters, I think it’s important to reminisce on just how good she was. That effortless, almost arrogant way in which she won seems impossible to recreate.
