this scene will always hit like crack. taggie o'hara had rupert campbell-black, notorious and seasoned manwh*re, shaking and breathless after ONE kiss because he realized he's utterly and irrevocably down bad for her.

can i just say that rivals is often a campy, silly and unserious show and i think we forget that it has moments when you just have to stop because of how hard it can hit. this scene without any background music? this whole episode? oh, alex and david were so raw and brilliant

it's giving mary when she said "i was happy in the life i had chosen, and i knew that i was good enough... though one can always be just a little happier, i suppose" and tom literally came running and shouting for her

when in a few hours belle's mom says "she needs a husband" let's remember jack all but held her heart in his hands, is the reason it still beats and they had to drag him away from her as he screamed "is she breathing?" so i fear it really doesn't get more husband than this

the textbook definition of rupert's love language. that worried and soft "OH", followed by "darling what is it?", along with the way he straightens up, ready to help as soon as he hears the distress in taggie's voice hits me like a ton of bricks

maia, thomas and the writers changed (ended) lives here because this scene is both uplifting and romantic, making us experience the height of dodgerfox's love confession, and also tragic and heartbreaking, slamming on us like a hammer when belle confesses to jack she's dying
