Something no Hanbalī Atharī would say, but this is after all the Daniel Confusedjou: “While Ibn Taymiyyah was one of the most influential scholars of Islamic history, he was also very controversial, some of his views diverged significantly from the positions of the Hanbalī school of law and the Atharī creed” 1) Ibn Taymiyyahs opinions are views in the madhab. So how in the world did he “diverge significantly”? That’s like saying “Hanbalī scholars have diverged significantly from the positions of the Hanbalī school of law”. That does not make any sense. In fact, there are issues in al-Muntaha and al-iqnā’, which are the two official sources of the Hanbalī madhab today that were not uttered except by Ibn Taymiyyah! In other words, after 800 years, Hanbalīs including the counterfeit ones today are not following what Ibn al-Najjar or what al-Hajjāwī said. They are following Ibn Taymiyyahs fatāwah in these certain issues. His fatāwah are the madhab, but hey “He diverged significantly from the Hanbalī school of law”. Here’s another fact, Ibn Taymiyyah is much more important to the Hanbalīs than al-Nawawī is to the Shāfi’īs. Ibn Taymiyyah is from Ashāb al-Wujūh and a Mujtahid Mutlaq and most know the importance of al-Nawawī to the Shāfi’īs. Unfortunately, Counterfeit Hanbalīs like Daniel are as always recycling Counterfeit Hanbalī trash coupled compound ignorance. No one puts it better than actual Hanbalī Salafī “Wahhabīs” like Ahmad al-Qu’yamī who is one of the many Salafī “Wahhabīs” who are servicing the madhab: والعَلم البحرُ المبَّجلُ التقي أئمة المذهبِ منهُ تستقي 2) Is there some sort of manual that outlines the Atharī creed from top to bottom, something comprehensive that you can point to and say, ‘Yeah, that’s the official creed?’ If there is, then it wouldn’t take long to find other Hanbalī positions on a particular talking point. Go read Tuhfat al-Wusūl. That’s more than enough to crumble your fantasy. This isn’t exclusive to the Hanbalīs either, this also applies to the Ash’arī صبيان here who think the same of one of their many madhahib. Ibn Taymiyyah just like how he is heavily quoted in the works of Furū’ al-Fiqh and Usūl al-Fiqh, he is heavily quoted in the works of ‘Aqāid, more than any Hanbalī actually. Look no further than the anti Najdī Hassan b. Shattī in his sharh of al-Durrah al-Madiyyah. He is either copying and pasting Ibn Taymiyyah or quoting him, but hey “he went against the positions of the Atharī creed”. Ibn Taymiyyah crystallised the ‘Aqīda of Ahmad وإن رغمت أنوفكم
