Yesterday, I visited the palace of the Onojie of Ekpoma, His Royal Highness, Zaiki Anthony Ehizojie Abumere Il, following the protest in Ekpoma that resulted in the attack of the palace and widespread destruction of property in the community. Having met with the stakestakeholders, I want to reassure the good people of Edo State that your safety remains my top priority. My administration has made strong investments in modern security equipment, intelligence gathering, and collaboration among security agencies, and these efforts are already yielding results in our fight against kidnapping, cultism, and other crimes. Let me be clear: Edo State will not be taken hostage by criminals or their sponsors. Anyone involved in kidnapping or any form of criminal activity will be tracked down and brought to justice. There will be no hiding place for them. While we respect the right of citizens to express themselves peacefully, I urge everyone to remain calm, vigilant, and law abiding, and not allow anyone to exploit genuine concerns to threaten the peace of our state. Security operations are ongoing across Edo, and my government is firmly in control of the situation. Together with our security agencies and with the support of our people, we will continue to restore and sustain peace across Edo State. I returned to Uhunmwode Local Government Area to inspect the ongoing road project in my predecessor’s community, a promise I made during my 2024 campaign. On January 11, 2026, the POWA Complex in Ekpoma was destroyed by fire. I came, I saw the damage, and I made a promise to rebuild. Today, April 4, 2026, that promise has been fulfilled. The complex is rebuilt and ready for use. I have also approved ₦200 million to support the affected traders as they get back on their feet. And we are not stopping there. Oba Market is next. Army Day Secondary School has been totally rebuilt with modern classrooms, new desks and chairs, clean learning environments, and essential teaching tools that inspire excellence.
