Vice President JD Vance made these remarks today. Tomorrow, I look forward to joining him in Bangor. As Governor I fought welfare fraud. I know what it is like to struggle, to be in poverty. Welfare should be a hand up to the truly needy, not just a hand out. Every dollar of fraud is a dollar stolen from taxpayers and not used to help those who truly need assistance.

🔥After reports from The Maine Wire, I raised the alarm that Somali-linked and other non-citizen linked nonprofits received Lewiston shooting victim funds, while victims still have unpaid medical bills. The national news is finally paying attention. For years I raised awareness about noncitizens collecting welfare benefits and now, tragically, victim fund money. Ann and I, along with many others, raised hundreds of thousands for victims. This is disturbing.
