Hi guys! Happy Friday! I've been working on a new faction for Northfall. I'm still not sure what to call them yet. I made a bunch of models for them, and today I wanted to show you some of the ones I've already put into Godot: a bodysuit, haircut, jetpack, and sword. Hi! I'm a solo video game developer making my dream game, Northfall. This is how I spent two evenings of my life this week: making a yellow tape suit! I saw an outfit like this in some video game around 2010, but I honestly can't remember which game it was. If you recognize it, please tell me because it's driving me crazy! At first, I thought I could get away with a bunch of cylinders and shrinkwrap modifiers in blender. Turns out, it was way harder than I expected... Then I ran into the next problem: UV unwrapping. My first idea was to draw a texture that perfectly matched all the tape. It was a disaster... Then I remembered something important: video games are all about smoke and mirrors. You don't always have to make things as complicated as they look. So instead of making a huge complicated texture, I made one simple stripe and a few decals. Even then, it wasn't easy.
