Bangkok residents have had plenty to contend with as floodwaters swallowed roads and homes after days of torrential rain, but for some, the biggest surprise came scurrying, crawling and scrambling out of the water. Videos and photographs shared widely online during the floods showed cockroaches and other creepy-crawlies appearing in homes and flooded areas as residents sought higher ground. Among those documenting the unwelcome visitors was actor and content creator Martin Bravo, who shared footage of his experience with companions as floodwaters inundated parts of Bangkok. The videos showed the group dealing with the flood while keeping an eye out for insects and other creatures seeking refuge from the rising water.

Three cars belonging to an individual known as Cikgu Chandra were set on fire, allegedly by a group of unidentified men. According to a post by independent preacher Firdaus Wong Wai Hung on the social media platform Threads, the incident took place on Tuesday morning, according to a report in Sinar Harian today. “Earlier this evening, three cars and several men wearing full face masks and armed with machetes tried to kill Cikgu Chandra. “Early this morning, around 3am, they set fire to all three of his cars. Fortunately, the police and fire department arrived quickly to put out the flames and bring the situation under control,” he wrote Tuesday.

A woman believed to be from China has drawn widespread attention on social media after a video alleged that she had been living at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for about a year. The video, shared by a user, features a voiceover claiming that the woman had been eating, sleeping and bathing at the airport during that period. In the footage, the woman is seen becoming visibly agitated, allegedly after children were playing near her. She is shown scolding or speaking loudly to another passenger, while a woman dressed in a brown T-shirt and jeans appeared to be trying to calm her down. She was later seen seated at one of KLIA’s waiting areas, looking at her phone, surrounded by multiple pieces of luggage placed on airport trolleys.

A commuter was injured after a piece of luggage came tumbling down an escalator at the TRX MRT station, reportedly knocking her over. Sharing the incident on Threads, her friend said they were heading home from work when the luggage suddenly fell from above. Several passers-by rushed to help as they were left shocked by what happened. The user later revealed that the injured commuter was unable to sit or walk properly and had to be supported before making it home safely. A video showing a car being driven against traffic on Jalan Jim Quee has been traced to an Audi driver who is believed to have fallen asleep after finishing work. South Johor Bahru district deputy police chief Superintendent Ng Swie Chait said the incident happened at about 6.50am on September 18 and involved a Malaysian man who works as a restaurant waiter at R&F Mall. Ng said the man was driving home to Taman Mount Austin when he fell asleep at the Tanjung Puteri traffic-light intersection. A nearby police officer knocked on the car window to wake him, after which the driver slowly moved forward but, possibly disoriented, drove against the flow of traffic towards Jalan Jim Quee. Police later conducted an SD2+ breathalyser test on the driver, which returned a negative result for alcohol. The case is being investigated under Section 79(2) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for disobeying traffic signals.
