It is alleged that a man lost two lorries worth about KSh 10 million to auctioneers over a loan of just KSh 1.5 million. This is how many Kenyans are being pushed into poverty through what looks like a deliberate scheme disguised as loan recovery. Valuable assets are seized, sold at throwaway prices, kickbacks are shared and in some cases the same assets quietly end up back in the hands of insiders. NTV has revealed that DP Kithure Kindiki plans to spend over Sh338 million on air travel in a single financial year, nearly one million shillings every day. This level of spending would be alarming in any context but it is obscene in a country where public hospitals lack basic supplies, schools don't have capitation and families are struggling to survive. That amount could fund essential medicines, support access to essential government service, keep girls in school with menstrual products, equip emergency shelters, or employ hundreds of health workers and teachers. Instead, it is being burned in the sky while citizens are told to tighten their belts. This is not about travel, it's about priorities. When leaders choose luxury over livelihoods, they reveal exactly who the state is working for and it is not the people. We are not poor or broke as a country, governance and misplaced priorities is the problem. Why are you not angry enough? #MapinduziKE
