JUST IN: The Chicago Cubs are releasing their own romantic comedy series on social media. NINE INNINGS TO LOVE will follow two young fans who meet in the bleachers and spark a special connection. The series will feature 17 short form episodes, all produced by the team’s creative arm Cubs Productions. It premieres on September 4th on the Chicago Cubs TikTok. ⚾️ ♥️

UPDATE: Dolly Parton shared an update on health issues that led to her cancelling at appearance at Dollywood today. “Sometimes I get a little dizzy and I get dehydrated,” Dolly said in a recorded video. “My doctor kind of clipped my wings and said ‘you ain’t traveling this week.’ So I guess if your doctor tells you you ain’t traveling this week, you ain’t traveling this week!” Dolly added that she continues to work on her many projects like a hotel in Nashville and a Broadway show based on her life. Get well soon, Dolly Parton! 🦋

Glen Hansard has died after being involved in a motorcycle crash in Dublin. Glen and Marketa Irglova performed "Into The Mystic" for us on the streets of Chicago while promoting the movie "Once" in 2008. I thought it would be fitting to share this today to remember his incredible talent and the passion he brought to every performance, big or small. Glen Hansard was just 56 years old. RIP.

UPDATE: The Illinois Tollway will vote on the biggest toll rate hike in state history this morning. If this measure is approved, I-Pass users would pay about 45 cents more per toll starting January 1, 2027. If you are a commercial truck driver, rates will increase about 30%. The rates would then automatically rise every year according to inflation, with no public hearings, every other year starting in 2029. The Tollway says the hikes would generate about $1 billion every year, and the money would be used for their latest construction projects. WGN TV News talked with commuters yesterday who aren’t thrilled with the increase. Will this change the way you commute if the rate hike is approved?

BREAKING: The AMERICAN EAGLE roller coaster will RACE ONCE AGAIN at Six Flags Great America for the first time in nearly a decade. The park announced that EAGLE will race during the park’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, which is happening from June 20-August 9. The classic wooden roller coaster opened in 1981 with a red train and blue train racing side by side. It is the tallest, fastest, and longest racing wooden roller coaster in the world. Six Flags Great America opened to the public 50 years ago today - May 29, 1976. In honor of the big day, the park is handing out party hats and some treats. There will be a fireworks show at 9:30pm.

NEW: A CBS Chicago crew was attacked near the Adler Planetarium yesterday and three people are now in custody. A CBS reporter and photographer were approached by three men in a tow truck before a live report yesterday afternoon. CBS says a man got out while shouting racial slurs and ordering his dog to attack. Another man smashed their camera, while a third broke their windshield. The men took off without physically harming the reporter or photographer. 20 minutes later, police tracked the two truck to Brighton Park, where witnesses say the men were pointing a gun at people on the street. The suspects were taken into custody after a chase and a crash. A high powered rifle was confiscated from that tow truck. The identity of the people in custody has not been released.

NEW: The one and only Dolly Parton was in attendance for opening day at Dollywood today! Thousands of people - young and not-as-young - lined the paths of the Pigeon Forge theme park to get a glimpse as the legendary singer and Dreamer-In-Chief rode by in the homecoming parade. It was great to see Dolly back out and about, even answering questions on stage and talking about all of the things coming to Dollywood and beyond this year. She is truly one of the best there is. 🦋

STINKY SITUATION: People in Thornton, Illinois say a foul smell is coming from a water reservoir that is at 94% capacity due to recent rain. WGN's Angelica Sanchez spoke with Thornton American Legion manager Lisa Gierucki, who said people aren't even going in their yards because of the stench. "It smells like a bunch of dirty poopy diapers or just poop on the street," Gierucki says. "When it rains and it's hot, it's horrific." WGN also spoke with the Village Clerk, who said the smell has become unbearable at times, and could get worse as water recedes this week. They added that there isn't much they can do, because the reservoir is run by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District. The District has not responded to questions about the smell.

NEW: A new family area CAMP TIMBER TRAIL is coming to Six Flags Great America in 2027, featuring SKY HAWK - the Midwest's longest, tallest and fastest suspended family coaster. The new area will transform the Yukon Territory section of . The new roller coaster will be the centerpiece attraction of the newly themed section of the park. The park says the ride will "send riders soaring through treetops on an exhilarating flight that combines thrills with stunning views of the woodland landscape below." The coaster is located in the area formerly home to the Winner Circle Go Karts. TRAIL TROTTERS will be another new attraction, "an imaginative animal trek that invites guests on a wilderness journey filled with exploration and discovery." It looks like this will be located in the former Camp Cartoon area of Yukon Territory. CAMP TIMBER TRAIL will also feature numerous rethemed former attractions, including: CHIRP CHASER: This will be the former Sprocket Rockets roller coaster. It's still there, but getting a new theme. WILDERNESS WAGON: This is the former Crazy Bus attraction CREEK CRUISER: This is the former Yahoo River ride, featuring boats that travel slowly in a circle. BEE BOPPIN': These are the beloved Buzzy Beez that travel in a slow circle. They'll get some slight new theming and a new spot in the park. Both LITTLE DIPPER and LOGGER'S RUN remain in this section of the park with their current themes. Six Flags says the area will also offer "guests themed dining, specialty treats, shopping and immersive environmental storytelling throughout." NEW: City of Chicago releases animation of new CONCOURSE D coming to O’Hare International Airport. The $1.3 billion project features: ✈️ 19 new gates for narrow and wide body aircraft ☀️ Skylit multi-level space 🌳 Tree-like columns that pay homage to orchards that once sat on the land 🏢 Views of the Chicago skyline through giant floor to ceiling windows The concourse project broke ground in 2025 as part of the ORDNext project and is scheduled to be finished in late 2028. Future additions are expected to include a Concourse E and an O’Hare Global Terminal, all connected by an underground tunnel system. The city says the project will deliver 14 percent more gate capacity.
