No matter who you vote for, I hope you don’t take the opportunity to vote for granted. Today is primary day here in California, as well as Iowa, Montana, New Jersey, South Dakota and New Mexico. Voting is also underway in a host of other states for their primary elections across the country. While we won’t always agree on who is best, on who should win (especially here on social media), I hope we can agree on the power of voting, of showing up, of casting a ballot, and making our choice in this democratic process. Today, I showed up, and I hope my neighbors and fellow Californians did as well. And as we await the results, let’s be grateful that our voice matters, that we can contribute, that we are part of this exciting process! Have you voted in your state’s primary election? 🗳️

I’m sharing this beautiful and powerful song from Bruce Springsteen, that he wrote in dedication to the people of Minneapolis and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good. Take a listen. The art of resistance, the voice of artists, well known and every day people all over the world singing, writing, speaking up and out is so inspiring. We the people are alive, empowered, and making a difference with our voices. My friends: use your voice in whatever way makes sense to you! Poetry, singing, writing, speaking, loving, cooking, painting. Show up in the way that you can. We are all creative beings with a voice. We the united people, of these United States, are rising above. We are showing that we care about our neighbors, our fellow human beings. Have no doubt the people are rising. It’s a beautful thing.

I was grateful to see this video that Jim Acosta posted after the “Quiet, piggy” incident. That was followed by the president doing something similar to ABC News White House correspondent Mary Bruce, speaking to her in a way that was belittling, rude, and actually dehumanizing. In many respects, not only did he personally berate her, but then went on to talk about ABC News as fake. He then continued to dismiss the Khashoggi murder by saying “things happen” when he was asked about hosting the alleged mastermind of that murder in the White House, telling the press it was rude to bring up the incident. Having a free press is one of the most important parts of having a free society. It’s heartbreaking and maddening to watch the president of the United States degrade, dehumanize, and berate the press on a daily basis. I’m not saying the process is perfect. No institution is, and it’s made up of lots of different people, but to brand everything fake news to brand every reporter as incompetent and other such words is detrimental to having a free press that a free society can count on and can turn to for facts or the truth. I know everybody seems to be scared of this president’s wrath, of being called out by him, or being given one of his nicknames. But the president of the United States is supposed to be a person that brings out the best, that raises people up. It’s beyond belief to me as a journalist, as a woman, and as an American that this behavior is not called out by everyone who came to that White House dinner, who knows the importance of the press, and who cares about their fellow human beings. We don’t need to accept this behavior, nor should it be allowed to be normalized. Only if we keep calling it out, and I mean all of us, will it make a difference. #abovethenoise

May God bless you all during this holy season. May you hold those you love dearly. May you make time to be with those you care about and tell them so. And may you head into a new year filled with hope. I know it might feel tough right now to feel hopeful, but that is exactly why we must all take some time to reflect and find the light within. So, I’m going to focus on my refilling my light, strengthening my spirit, and surrounding myself with love. I’m going to take a break from social media for the rest of the year, and I’ll see you back here in 2026! ♥️ #takingabreak

Today, our country feels leaderless. The temperature is rising, anger is boiling over, and truth itself feels fragile. But here’s the truth: each of us can step into that absence. Each of us, in our own way, can be the kind of leader this moment demands. Call it pastoring, call it tending, call it guiding whatever word resonates. Real leaders don’t bully or extort. They don’t pit us against each other. They listen. They allow silence. They speak truth. They hold space for grief and for hope. And every single one of us is capable of that kind of leadership right now, in our own lives.

I’m so amazingly proud to be a part of this groundbreaking initiative with the The White House! Today, President Donald J. Trump established the first-ever White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research by First Lady Melania Trump, galvanizing the federal government, the private sector, and philanthropy to improve women’s health. This is a big step forward for women’s health research. It must be national and federal policy to fund research that impacts and improves women’s lives. This is the beginning of getting us some answers on Alzheimer’s, heart disease, menopause, depression, osteoporosis, lung cancer, and more! #womenshealthmatters

For years, I’ve been trying get answers to questions, questions about women’s health. For years I’ve heard the same thing over and over, “We don’t know.” How is it that we don’t know about half our population? Because we haven’t researched them! Women have been ignored in clinical research. Well now, the The White House is helping us get answers! I have been working with First Lady Melania Trump on the Women’s Health Research Initiative, and last week, $100 million in federal funding was announced or research and development into women’s health from the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health. But this is also a call to all the tech companies, the innovators, the inventors, the game changers — we need you! We need your minds, your help to get these answers. We can make a difference by working together, and changing the way we think about women’s health. Who’s ready? #womenshealthresearch

As Kamala Harris reminded us all today when I joined her in Michigan with Liz Cheney, do not despair. Yes, we are all feeling anxious, stressed, unsure. But this is a moment for us all to decide how we want to move forward. To recognize that we all have a decision to make, and while we might disagree, that is part of the process. The American people have the power in their hands to choose the next president by exercising their right to vote. Let’s rise to this moment, but not give in to the hate and division. We can disagree on many issues, yet still come together in the end. In fact, today, I bore witness to what coming together for the good of the country looks like — country over party. That’s a decision only you can make, and only you get to decide. But in the end, do not despair. #vote

Bruce Springsteen shared today that his mother, Adele, had passed away yesterday. Adele was a fixture at her son’s shows, and would often be seen on stage dancing with him. In 2021, he shared that Adele had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s 10 years earlier, and that while the disease had taken a lot away, “the need to dance hasn’t left her. She can’t speak. She can’t stand. She can’t feed herself. But when she sees me, there is always a smile. Still a smile. And there’s still a kiss. And there’s a sound which she makes when she sees me. It’s just the sound but I know it means ‘I love you.’” Bruce posted this video of him and his mother dancing to swing music in tribute. May we all keep dancing, keep singing, and keep feeling the music. Sending love your way the Springsteen family. ♥️

To the women of America, the Women’s Health Research Initiative is our moonshot! Just like my uncle, President Kennedy, got us to the moon, this administration is going to help us get answers to the questions we have about our health. This is our moment, this is the time. Not because it is easy, but because now is the time. And I’m thrilled to get to sit before another great president tonight at the #StateOfTheUnion to hear him address this nation. Will you be tuning in?

I’ve always respected Steve Kerr for his coaching and the way he uses his voice to speak to the moment. Here he is bringing us together, to inspire us, to move humanity forward about the current events in Minnesota. I wrote in M! this weekend about how we can become our higher selves, our better angels, and moving humanity forward… together. This moment transcends politics, sports, media. It’s bigger than who you voted for. It’s bigger than each of us. It’s a moment to reflect and come together. To recognize that there really is more that unites us than separates us.

My aunt, Ethel Kennedy, was a truly extraordinary woman, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She lived a life full of deep meaning that influenced not just those of us close to her, but so many others. In 2012, my cousin @roryekennedy made an absolutely beautiful documentary about her mother called “Ethel,” which these clips are from. It’s available to watch Actually HBO Max, if you want to learn more about her remarkable life. ♥️

I’m thrilled and excited to see the choice of Cardinal Robert Prevost as our new pope! How truly exciting to see a pope, not just who is American, but from my hometown of Chicago — born just 2 months before me. Pope Leo seems to be the kind of voice the world needs now. For the church, for our country, for our shared humanity. I believe that he is a voice for all of us, a voice of kindness, compassion, and love. I believe that he can continue on the courageous ministry and legacy of Pope Francis, and help us all recognize that love is what will bring us together. I think the world is ready for his voice. Welcome, #PopeLeo!

Today was my great friend Hoda Kotb’s last day on the TODAY. She is taking a leap into a new chapter, one of her own choosing, one of her own design. I couldn’t have been happier than to be by her side today, and really any day to be by a friend’s side that I love so dearly! I wanted to be there to cheer her on, to remind her of her unique gifts, her love of others, her desire to help others, her passion for health and wellness, and bringing it into the lives of others. Hoda is alive in her life! She is one of the best humans I know — loving, generous, kind, fun, and so enthusiastic about life. Join me in wishing her well as she embarks on this exciting new chapter! #inspireheartsandminds

My cousin Patrick J. Kennedy sent me this music video from Keb' Mo' featuring Rosanne Cash early this morning. I love it… yes, let’s put a woman in charge. Let’s go! My friends, let’s make history today. I’m so hopeful. It will be such a moment for millions of us tonight. Let’s go, my friends. I’m so proud to be voting for the first woman president, Kamala Harris. Kamala and Your Next Vice President, it’s an honor to vote for you! #electionday

Today as we remember, honor, and celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a great man who used his voice to promote service and freedom, I hope you can stop to ask yourself how you are serving this country, our world, your neighbors, your loved ones, yourself! Big and small—it all matters. Serve up kindness. Serve up understanding. Serve up love. Find your voice, find your way to serve this world, to serve others, and make a difference. The world needs you right now. It needs your light! #MLKDay

Today would have been my mother’s 104th birthday! Happy, happy birthday, Mummy. I think of my mother every day, and I miss her every single day. I still talk to her all the time. I seek out her advice. I know she would be proud. But especially on her birthday, I think of her a lot. She loved her birthday! She would sail her boat on her birthday. She would eat her favorite foods. She would try to beat me in tennis… she was a fierce competitor! When people think and talk of the Kennedy family, they so often single out the men. But they are missing the real story. The story of the strength and the resolve of the women like my mother. She changed the world — no two ways about it! She started the Special Olympics! Today, the Special Olympics provides training and activities to more than 5 million participants in 172 countries. It’s the largest sporting organization for people with intellectual disabilities in the world. I made a film about her several years ago (‘The Kennedy who Changed the World’) that is always worth reviewing! Her life is worth celebrating — today and on all days! #inspireheartsandminds

Women are over half the population, but research on women’s health has always been underfunded and understudied. It’s clear that women have been seeking healthcare in a medical world largely designed for men. No more! We are righting that wrong and making sure that no woman ever has to hear, “It’s all in your head” or “It’s just stress” ever again! #womenshealthmatters

My friend Julie sent me this powerful video from Teun Toebes — it stopped me cold! This young man is so inspiring. I love his passion, his determination, and of course, his mission, which I also share. I love that he wants to tell this story in film, in a book, and by using social media. I love that the idea of a deeply meaningful life can apply to any and everyone, even and especially those living with dementia. It is up to us to help ensure that we revalue those living with dementia — what we can learn from them, how we interact with them, and how we can ensure they contribute to our lives! #movehumanityforward
