Resolution A/RES/79/325 positions the UN as the central forum for international AI cooperation and validates its role as the legitimate institution for governing transformative technologies inclusively, by and for the benefit of all.

BREAKING: Costa Rica secures support from 104 States for its “Call to Action” on renewing global solidarity for humanity at ECOSOC Humanitarian Affairs Segment in Geneva! With 300M people needing urgent assistance worldwide, our initiative strengthens collective solidarity in times of crisis through improved financing, civilian protection & local capacity building. The Call to Action remains open through July for additional support. Time to translate our collective commitments into urgent action for those in crisis.

The common impression is that women need the UN. This is true. But the UN needs women. It needs us at all levels of decision-making, contributing to every platform. Thus, I cannot emphasize more emphatically that it is high time to elect a woman Secretary-General. #She4SG

Since 1945, no female Permanent Representative has presided over the First Committee—until now. I honor Amb. Mona Juul, who led 1C in 2006 as DPR. Only 2 🚺 have held this position in 79 yrs. With just 1/3 of participants in disarmament talks being women, this is a call to action
