Innovation is not the problem, execution is the problem. I’ve got an entire design for an electric supersonic vertical takeoff jet, but I just can’t do that as well. I’ve had that for 10 years. I think to some degree I was born this way, and then it was amplified by a difficult childhood. I can remember, even in the happy moments when I was a kid, that it feels like a rage of forces in my mind, constantly. Now this productively manifests itself in technology and building things for the most part. I think on balance the output has been very productive.”

Elon Musk: "We’re in the final stages of completion of Optimus 3, which is really going to be by far the most advanced robot in the world, nothing's even close. In fact, I haven’t even sent any demos of robots that are as good as Optimus 3, frankly. We’ll start production on Optimus 3 this summer, but very slow at first. And then probably reach high-volume production around summer next year. We’ll have Optimus 4 design complete by next year like, we will try to release a new robot design every year, an improved robot design every year."

Elon Musk: “For robots to be truly useful, they must be intelligent. You should be able to ask them to do things naturally, and they must be affordable to build at massive scale. That combination is rare. Tesla is the only company with all the required ingredients, real-world AI, vision, autonomy, manufacturing, and cost efficiency. That’s what makes Optimus such a big deal. My prediction is that Optimus will be the biggest product of all time, by far. Nothing will even be close. I think it will be 10 times bigger than the next biggest product ever made.”

Elon Musk: "The reason I'm doing SpaceX is not due to some childhood epiphany or because I think this is the highest return on investment way to spend money. I think starting a rocket company is an unusual thing to do and pretty risky. But I'm a big believer in us becoming a space-faring civilization and ultimately extending life beyond Earth. When I was in college, I tried to think: what are the really big problems that face the world, that which will most affect the future of humanity? And the three that I thought were the most important were; the internet, transition to a sustainable energy economy, and the third was space exploration, in particular making life multi-planetary."

Elon Musk: "I thought the self-driving problem would be hard, but it was harder than I thought. It's not like I thought it would be easy, I thought it would be very hard, but it was actually way harder than even that. I mean, what it comes down to at the end of the day is to solve self-driving, you basically need to recreate what humans do to drive, which is: humans drive with optical sensors (eyes) and biological neural nets. That's how the entire road system is designed to work, So for actually for full self-driving to work, we have to recreate that in digital form."
