A government that cannot command the confidence of its people soon resorts to commanding their fear. My admiration to the people of Ol Kalou for standing their ground peacefully in defence of democracy, and to the journalists who continued to bear witness despite intimidation and assault. Truth has always found its way through courage.

Today, alongside H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka and Hon. Justin Muturi and members of the Alternative Government, we called for an immediate end to the escalating culture of political intolerance and organized goonism. The attacks on the Linda Mwananchi rally in Kisii were not isolated incidents. They are part of a deliberate pattern of political intolerance designed to deny Kenyans their constitutional freedoms. We refuse to accept violence as the price of political participation. Those responsible must be brought to justice, and the State must demonstrate through action, not words that no one is above the law. If political violence is tolerated today, no Kenyan's rights will be safe tomorrow.

Earlier this year, I urged Kenyans to reject fear, protect their vote, and stand together when the time comes. This week, the people of #OlKalou showed the nation exactly what that looks like. They reminded us of a simple truth: no amount of intimidation can defeat a people who stand together. Those who thrive on fear want Kenyans to believe that violence is stronger than their vote. We stand in solidarity with their families, colleagues, and every Kenyan demanding truth, accountability, and justice. Those responsible must be identified, prosecuted, and held fully accountable.

A government that cannot protect its women and children cannot claim to be fulfilling its first responsibility. The Ministry of Interior, the National Police Service, the Ministry of Gender, and the Judiciary must urgently implement the Nancy Baraza Task Force recommendations and ensure that justice is swift, certain, and accessible. A national crisis demands a national response. Let each of us do our part by taking the #ActNowToEndGBV pledge and commit to one action that will help build a safer Kenya for women and children.

Any Kenyan can denounce this bill in church, on the street, on television. We’ve been doing that. It is only in Parliament elected MPs can speak out and enact tax relief or more tax pain! 187 of them were not present to do the job citizens employed them to do! As a young activist, my own family worried when we took a stand against injustice and challenged those in power. But I always came home. Mama Rex's son did not, Eric Shieni did not, Evans Kiratu did not, Denzel Omondi and many other children who answered the call of conscience in June 2024 but did not make it home. June 25th is a day to remember young Kenyans who believed enough in their country to stand up for it. A day to stand with the families who continue to carry that loss and a day to affirm that no Kenyan should lose their life for demanding accountability, justice, and a better future. On June 25th, let us stand together in remembrance, solidarity, and hope for those we lost and the families they left behind.

I stand with fellow regional leaders to decry violations that include brutal assaults, the humiliation of women political actors, and the use of sexual violence as a tool of political intimidation. What is happening in Uganda is not an internal matter; it is a regional and continental emergency that demands urgent action. For every suppressed voice, more emerge. These acts are atrocious and reprehensible, but they will not prevail.

In yesterday’s hearing for Dr. Kizza Besigye, the prosecution arrived nearly two hours late, yet again causing delays in a case that has seen nothing but prosecution-driven delays from the start. Dr. Kizza and his co-accused were already in the dock waiting. The defense asked the court to dismiss the application given the prosecutor's absence, but another date was given instead. The prosecution has failed to meet its own disclosure deadlines and is now asking the court to hide the identities of six key witnesses from the defence. Why delay the course of justice? We will keep asking that question, in that courtroom, outside it and everywhere it needs to be heard. #FreeKizza

Today, at Apondo SDA Church in Ahero, Kisumu, I worshipped alongside the congregation with James Orengo Dr Fred Matiang'i and Senator Richard Onyonka. During the service, I spoke about a matter we have ignored for far too long: the public celebration of large church donations without regard for their source. The Church must remain society's moral conscience. An offering should honour God, not conceal the proceeds of injustice. After the service, we joined residents of Ahero for a conversation about the future of our country. As a community at the heart of Kenya's rice production, Ahero reflects the resilience, industry, and hope that define so many Kenyan communities. It was encouraging to engage with residents and hear their hopes for a Kenya where integrity, opportunity, and service define leadership. Those conversations continue to shape the future we must build together. #TuunganeTujikomboe

We marched peacefully to honour the memory of the young Kenyans we lost and to stand with their families in their pursuit of justice, despite constant threats and attempts to disperse us. The issues that brought young people to the streets on June 25th, 2024 remain with us today: unemployment, corruption, overtaxation, and a government that does not care to listen. The greatest tribute we can pay those we lost is to continue the work of building the Kenya they believed was possible. To the mothers, fathers, families, and all Kenyans who carry this loss, you do not walk alone. Aluta Continua! #WeWillNotForget

Thirty-six years ago, Saba Saba proved that ordinary citizens, united by courage and conviction, can change the course of history. I remember helping to organize those efforts. Like many women in the struggle, I understood the unique risks we faced if arrested. The work of that generation was not in vain but it remains unfinished. Today, those gains are under threat from leaders who use public resources to enrich themselves, who deploy goons against citizens asking legitimate questions, and who ship our youth abroad as cheap labour rather than invest in them at home. Before every election, there will be handouts, we have to vote with our conscience and not with their cash. That is how we honour the spirit of Saba Saba. #sabasaba

Today, at Nairobi Baptist, Amnesty International gathered us to honor those who suffer the cost of standing up for democracy in the region . Prayers for the youth slain, and their families, in June 2024, Dr. Kizza Besigye, Tundu Lissu and all who bear the pain of fighting for justice, democracy, and human rights. During the service, Rev. Jackie Makena shared a powerful sermon calling our conscience to bear. A nation may move on and headlines may fade, but God does not forget. Neither should we. As we remember the young Kenyans who lost their lives while demanding accountability, may we continue to honour their memory by pursuing truth, justice, and accountability. #WeWillNotForget
