Some Peshawer-born Talib, who himself speaks broken Pashtu mixed with Dari and English words, is forcing a Dari-speaker Afghan to write in Pashtu. One of the Afghan official languages, Dari has been Afghanistan’s lingua franca since time immemorial. Former Afghan King Zahir Shah, an ethnic Pashtun from Kandahar, mostly communicated in Dari at home and abroad. He showed Afghans that language is ultimately a medium of communication, not a means of persecution and discrimination.
