In 1967, Israel took the territory from Jordan, a country that illegally occupied the land after attacking Israel in 1948. The land never belonged to a sovereign Palestinian state. In fact, much of it was either legally bought by Jews before 1948, or administered by the British Mandate. Today, Israel largely respects private land ownership in Judea & Samaria, even in complicated cases. History isn’t black and white — it’s layered.
