Does anyone remember the tragic story of former Chicago White Sox pitcher Francisco Barrios? Barrios was a decent young pitcher. He had an injury during the strike shortened season in 1981, and on June 24, Barrios was charged with cocaine possession and arrested for disorderly conduct at a Division Street bar owned by former Chicago Bear Doug Buffone. He voluntarily entered a Chicago area drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic and afterward was released by the White Sox. He pitched well in the Mexican Winter Leagues and was ready to sign a contract with the Milwaukee Brewers when he died on a heart attack on April 9th, 1982, at the age of 28. I remember being shocked seeing this on the news. Here is footage of vintage Harry's and Jimmy calling one of Francisco Barrios's games.

Former Cub and MLB player Mel Hall lived the life that many of us dreamed of. Here is a walk off homer in 1991. Now he is incarcerated at H. H. Coffield Unit of Texas Department of Criminal Justice; earliest possible parole November 15, 2031 for sex crimes against minors. He received a 45 year sentence in 2009. What a horrible human being.

Back when Chicago was great. A crazed, probably drunken fan runs onto the field and tries to attack Randy Myers after he gives up a home run and the tie to pinch hitter James Mouton back in 1995. Myers knocked the man down with his forearm and pinned the man. The Cubs came back to win the game in extra innings with a walk off single by Mark Parent in the 11th. On another note, let's make Illinois great again and flip it red.

Back when Chicago was great. Cubs 1978 highlights that include Larry Biittner's game winning home run on the home opener. I played softball with Biittner in 1987. Cigarette butts were all over first base. He was a great guy, may me RIP. Dave Kingman beating out a bunt. Greg Gross throwing a guy out at the plate. Reuschel, Sutter. Dave Rader getting punched by Ellis Valentine, leading to a bench clearing brawl. A sensational catch by Jerry White. Jack Brickhouse with the commentary. A great trip down memory lane.
