Teenager kidnapped in Chicago 4 years ago is found alive, leaving a trail of mystery. Nineteen-year-old Joniah Walker, who vanished at age 15 from a Chicago movie theater on June 23, 2022, was found alive in Blacksburg, Virginia, after being held captive for four years. Law enforcement officials announced the breakthrough following a 911 domestic disturbance call that led to her self-identification and rescue. Her captor, 37-year-old Owen Anderson, has been arrested and charged in Wisconsin with kidnapping by deceit, child abduction, and child enticement. Anderson began communicating online with Joniah when she was just 12 years old, eventually grooming and blackmailing her. In June 2022, Anderson arranged and paid for an Uber to transport Joniah from her home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to a movie theater in Chicago, Illinois. Upon her arrival, Anderson confiscated and disposed of both her personal cell phone and a burner phone he had previously mailed to her. Anderson took her to his home in Blacksburg, Virginia, where she was subjected to physical and sexual abuse for four straight years.

Remember: Progressive Democrats in Chicago stripped parents of their voice and completely removed uniformed police officers from all public schools. The radical Democratic machine killed a $10.3M contract for School Resource Officers (SROs). They took away the power of local school councils to protect their own kids. This left classrooms vulnerable to appease extreme activist groups. Instead of backing the blue, city leadership reallocated law enforcement funds into unproven "restorative justice" experiments, youth intervention specialists, and bureaucratic mental health programs. While progressive Democrats celebrate a weakened police presence, families are left to worry about student safety. This is just another example of how today’s Democratic Party is fundamentally anti-police, soft on crime, and willing to compromise public safety for political points.
