So grateful Lebanese paramedics are wearing body cams. They are documenting, in real time, the war crimes they endure. No more doubting them, no more “where is the proof?” Another double-tap attack today caught on camera: as rescuers of the Civil Defence of the Islamic Health Authority inspected the site of a previously targeted building, Israeli jets struck the location again directly, injuring two paramedics.

Hussein Saleh lost 8 members of his family in an Israeli strike on their home, including his pregnant wife. He found the head of his young daughter amid the rubble. “When I picked up her head, everything changed. Something in my heart broke and went silent.” It is one of the most heartbreaking stories Nada Homsi and I have worked on during the war. Nothing could justify such a horrific attack.

“I told her, ‘I’m next to you.’ She told me, ‘Don’t fall asleep and leave me.’ I said, ‘No, no.’ Then exhaustion took over. I closed my eyes for a moment. Then I heard Amal scream. They struck the room again. Nada Homsi and I interviewed one of the survivors of a quadruple-tap Israeli attack on rescuers that killed four on Wednesday. Here is Gaby Zalghout’s account, who was among the first to arrive to the scene. A first ambulance was dispatched to rescue civilians in Mayfoun. Israel struck them as paramedics were pulling out a body. A SECOND strike hit after another ambulance arrived. Gaby, who was injured, then tried to evacuate the wounded, driving away from the scene under continued Israeli artillery fire. As a third team arrived, Israel struck a THIRD TIME. Four paramedics were killed. Israel has not provided any justification for the strikes targeting them.

A destroyed school, water station, playground and mosque. This is some of the destruction we saw in Debinne , a village that has been completely flattened by Israel, like many villages across the deep south. We’ve been working on a full package on Israel’s “buffer zone” doctrine in Lebanon for The National , based on several reporting trips near the so-called “yellow line” - a belt of dozens of villages stretching roughly 5–7 kilometres from the border with Israel. Israeli bombs keep falling in southern Lebanon, killing civilians, families and rescuers, despite the so-called truce. At Najdeh Hospital in Nabatieh, we saw a teenage girl who lost 6 of her family members, including her parents and brother in an Israeli strike the week before. We’re reporting from the Civil Defence centre in Nabatieh, a day after two paramedics, Hussein Jaber and Ahmad Noura, were killed by Israeli strikes. Today, we were meant to meet Hussein today to report on Israel’s targeting of civilians during the ceasefire. Instead, we’re reporting on his killing. The two men were killed while trying to rescue a wounded civilian from an earlier strike. The injured man was running towards the Civil Defence centre when a second missile hit just outside, killing all three.

Medics in Nabatiyeh are paying a heavy price from Israeli strikes. Two rescuers, aged 16 and 23, were killed in a targeted strike yesterday, and a Civil Defence centre was destroyed last week, injuring more than 10 rescuers. Medical personnel are protected under IHL, but strikes are not “distinguishing between military and civilian targets,” they told us.

Israel destroyed the Qasmiyeh bridge yesterday connecting south to north Lebanon just hours before the truce came into effect. Today it’s packed with families returning to their villages - the bridge has been quickly fixed but is still unstable only allowing a few cars to pass at the same time. People have been stuck on the road for hours - but nothing will stop them from returning home.

Hebrew graffiti and Israeli bullet casings litter the ground : we’re reporting from a house in Debbin, southern Lebanon, that Israeli soldiers had briefly occupied. Locals say Hezbollah pushed Israeli troops back from Debbin days before the ceasefire. The village lies near the “yellow line”, an area comprising dozens of village illegally occupied by Israel where Lebanese are barred from returning.
