How does Cardano work? What is its consensus mechanism? Cardano Community uses a uniquely energy-efficient, peer-reviewed Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism called Ouroboros. Instead of relying on energy-intensive mining hardware, Ouroboros selects validators (known as slot leaders) to create new blocks based on the amount of cryptocurrency (ADA) they hold and stake in the network. Waves Studio, a design company, and I were discussing how there aren't many short, informative videos out there explaining basic concepts for new users anymore. So we got to work, and from time to time we'll be releasing one. Watch the video and let us know what you think.
