After about an hour of listening to the head of the property industry argue for more of the same when it comes to tackling the housing crisis, I couldn’t help but let my frustration boil over. I know many of us - the millions of Australians who rent - are feeling this same way.

BREAKING Green Institute report calls for a 50% tax on gas export revenue, after our analysis finds gas corporations stand to double revenue up to $107 billion this year. A 50% gas tax would raise $55 billion in 2026/27 - enough to give every household in Aus $5000. So why 50%?

Today I asked Labor a question about coal and gas and I got kicked out of Parliament. Doesn’t matter how many times I get booted you can guarantee I won’t stop asking the gov why they are so committed to opening new coal and gas mines in the middle of a climate crisis.

Recognising Palestine is in Labor’s platform, but all Labor MPs except Senator Payman voted against it. Over 37,000 Palestinians have been murdered but instead of taking steps to help end a genocide, Labor MPs have taken more sanctions against Senator Payman than against Israel.

While Labor oversee a housing system that makes record profits for banks and developers, the rest of us get screwed.

Billions of dollars in tax handouts to property investors is unfair and these handouts are denying millions of renters the chance to buy a home - pass it on.

I was asked on ABC News this week about the PM’s personal attacks on me. Being called names in the Parliament isn’t real pressure, real pressure is being one more rent increase away from eviction, having to choose between eating and paying the rent.

If Labor had implemented a two-year rent freeze from 2023, it would save the average renter over $4000. Labor has the power to freeze and cap rents now, but time and again they choose more profits for property developers.

Not exactly surprised to hear Labor didn't like my proposal to only pay politician wages when investments on the stock market pay off. But then, that's exactly what they're proposing to do with their housing plan...

Take a guess how long it would take a nurse, teacher or childcare worker to save for a home? NONE of the top ten most common professions can afford to buy a home. None. Zero.

Here’s some of the key points from my interview on Insiders. If we’re ever going to end the housing crisis, Labor needs to wind back the tens of billions of dollars in tax handouts for property investors and give renters and first home buyers a fighting chance instead.

The Prime Minister says it’s “juvenile” for the Greens to be fighting to make sure everybody has a place to call home. I think with the housing crisis growing worse by the day, it couldn’t be more serious.
