Darryn Peterson to Swish Cultures post Vegas summer league debut: “I’m back having fun. I wasn't really experiencing it that much at Kansas. I was off [the ball] a ton. … I feel like myself again. Being on the ball, that's what comes with it - being double teamed”

“I've been asked to be the defensive anchor. So that's going to be my role, to kind of be the linebacker of the defense, kind of take control of that,” Walker Kessler said. Do you talk a lot on D in that role? “Yeah, I talk a lot. Yeah, you’ll hear me. I yell a lot.”

“JJ and I talked, and that's kind of what we came up with this year, ‘relentless,’ and for me, that means just crashing every time, trying to be a presence in the paint, inside, outside, play hard, don't take plays off … So that’s going to be my goal” - Walker Kessler

LeBron James in the arena for Sixers-Nets tonight

The Lakers’ practice setup at a resort ballroom in Vegas. The team is testing out a new court design for the summer session.

Luka Doncic said he’s already learned how other teams tend to get up to play the Lakers and give them their best shot. “I didn’t believe it before, but they say if somebody is out a long time, then they play against the Lakers … So I think that’s normal [now].”

After generally side stepping questions about Dillon Brooks’ comments, LeBron James cut off his media availability with a simple message.

“We’ve certainly seen glimpses of the things we like. It's hard because we've just been a little disjointed with the guys being banged up, so there's nothing definitive yet.” - JJ Redick on determining the two Lakers opening night starters next to Doncic/Reaves/Kessler

“You guys seen the meme after Game 1. I can look at him and he can know what the hell I’m talking about” - LeBron James reveals Marcus Smart was who he was making nonverbal communication with in the series opener 👀

Lakers guard Jaden Hardy on the roster math the team has to figure out with 16 guys under contract and needing to get down to 15 by opening night: “I’m just coming in here every day working and putting my head down … It’s in God’s hands, literally. I’m blessed to be here”

Quentin Grimes when asked if anyone on the Lakers knows who the other two LAL starters will be next to Doncic/Reaves/Kessler: “I don’t know. I guess you’re going to find out next Wednesday!” Grimes said the process to identify the starters created “healthy competition” in camp

LAL C Walker Kessler said he has been limited in training camp because of his left pinkie for “precautionary” reasons. After a full practice Sunday, he said: “Because I didn’t play last season, I’m like, ‘Ah, I want to play really bad.’ I’m ready to play but I trust the staff”

“In my opinion, it definitely just got harder for everybody with the team that they assembled” - Mike Brown on Philadelphia’s place in the contender conversation

“He's got such a high basketball IQ that if he gets the rebound, he should basically play the 1. And it doesn't matter if I'm on the floor, it doesn't matter if Luka's on the floor. If he gets it and goes … we trust whatever he has planned” - Austin Reaves on Mamukelashvili

LeBron James: “We suck right now.” He also framed LAL’s in-season tournament as “only two games,” suggesting that championship should be given the proper weight
