The government was against Michael Jackson filming there because they were worried he would show the poverty side. The police refused to give him protection but the drug lord Marcinho VP helped Michael shoot his video. Spike Lee, the director of the music video, said “We didn’t pay a dime. Just asked permission. The guy was a big Michael Jackson fan.” “To guarantee Michael’s security, we had to speak with the drug kingpin Marcinho VP because the Brazilian police refused to climb the hills of the slum.” The drug lord said, “This will be the safest place in the world. We could lay $1M on the street and no one would touch it.” The location where Michael filmed is a tourist attraction, and they even have his statue and pictures there. We will NEVER see this level of fame again.

The FBI watched Michael Jackson over a decade, tore his house up side down while he was out of the country, without any search warrants & found NOTHING!! They even had a cell waiting for him. Tom Sneddon broke the law trying to convict MJ of crimes he didn't commit, falsified evidence. If they had found any evidence, he would’ve been in jail. Let’s use our thinking caps please.

Spike Lee directed both short films. The Brazilian version was filmed in Pelourinho, the historic city center of Salvador, and in Santa Marta, a favela of Rio de Janeiro. Olodum is an Afro-Brazilian cultural group that fights against racial discrimination and socioeconomic inequality. The filming had a positive impact. “He displayed great concern for everything in the country, with poverty, with street children,” Dodi Sirena told Billboard in 2009. “This process to make Dona Marta better started with Michael Jackson,” agreed Claudia Silva, press liaison for the Rio De Janeiro tourism office. “Now it’s a safe favela. There are no drug dealers anymore, and it’s a massive social project. But all the attention started with Michael Jackson.”

In the prison version, he included footage of war, civil rights protests, the Tiananmen Square protest of 1989, the Los Angeles riots of 1992, and the KKK, yet some people on this app claim, “he never took any risks.” There was no internet back then, but everyone, even people who live in Amazonian tribes knew who he was. Y’all keep forgetting that he was born in Gary, Indiana. He came from nothing and had to work 10 times harder to get to where he was. He had to sing to get his family out of poverty. “Beat It” and “The Way You Make Me Feel” had real crips. He hired real gang members as backup dancers to make peace between them. Please stop comparing anyone to MJ.
