The people of Azad Jammu & Kashmir have delivered a powerful message through an apparent widespread boycott of the elections. Many voters allege that, as with Pakistan's 8 February 2024 general election, the electoral process has been influenced by military-backed interference and rigging. Public confidence cannot be restored without transparency. The international community should urgently call for independent election observers and a credible assessment of the integrity of the electoral process.
