What a disaster the long carrots have proved to be. Earlier on during the heat I was wary, they were either going to be brilliant or a total failure with the latter being the case. The biggest so far measured 13.5 inches and 33 inches long. It. Looks like I’ll have plenty for Coriander, cakes and recipes using carrots.

I couldn’t possibly leave Chelsea without shooting this small video of the South Africa display, truly beautiful.

Well, just arrived at St Fagans National Museum of History Cardiff and just laid out my parsnips. Wait until the morning now for the judges deliberations.

Christmas Eve and pulling the last few parsnips with a few veg. Unseasonably warm and raining yet again. Wishing you all a merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year from all the team at Medwyns.

Some benefit for allowing side shoots and a mention of advantageous roots on the stem of tomatoes.

Sowed a very old heritage type of bean this year that used to be prolific around the Carmarthenshire area. The actual beans are really beautiful to the eye.

Had to pull one of my long carrots this afternoon owing to some corkiness above the shoulder. This had a lovely shape and length on it. That’s one less in the running now!! All the others appear to be fine.
