One of my favorite public reenactment I did for the Battle of Tarawa a couple years ago. It wasn’t 100% scripted like most public battles so there was some genuine panic when the Marines cornered us at the final defensive point and we made a desperate attempt to break out lol

Got some .43 Spanish shells to play around with for my Oviedo rolling block rifle (and also knocking shit in my room)

The camouflaged Japanese soldiers in The Thin Red Line looked really cool, especially during Witt’s chase sequence. It’s funny how they also have a heavy machine gun team running after him but it’s a neat demonstration of how mobile the Type 92 can be.

I fumbled a bit here but I just like how the Type 38 sounded like in this clip. The rifle and its internals were all coated in a very fine layer of dust after an event so extraction needed some force. Also quite comfortable to shoot in a prone position.

Went to the range today and finally fired live rounds through my Type 99 rifle for the first time since I’ve just been using blanks for reenactments.

Japanese 1939 wartime film ‘Mud and Soldiers’ demonstrating how an Imperial Army rifle platoon would’ve reacted to contact, in this case a Chinese MG nest. Attached battalion assets such as the Type 92 HMG and battalion gun also help suppress the enemy position.

Quite fond of this clip since the Type 38 looks to have almost zero recoil in it
