Kalamkari Printmaking in Iran 🇮🇷 Kalamkari, also commonly spelled as Qalamkari, is an ancient textile printing art, that finds its roots in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Kalamkari gained popularity in the South India during the reign of Vijayanagara Empire. Kalam implies 'pen' and Kari means 'art', a name given by the Mughals when they discovered the art during their reign over the Deccan region. Only natural dyes are used in Kalamkari, which involves twenty-three steps.

"We did more in 90 minutes than the politicians did in 20 years." 🇺🇸🇮🇷 The USA vs. Iran match at the 1998 World Cup carried one of the heaviest political weights in football history. Before kickoff, a major protocol crisis emerged: FIFA rules required Iranian players to walk toward the Americans for the pre-match handshake, but Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei strictly forbade it. The deadlock was broken only when the American players, coordinating with French and FIFA officials, agreed to waive the protocol and walk toward their opponents instead. This gesture transformed the tension into a historic display of sportsmanship, with both teams posing arm-in-arm and Iranian players presenting white roses to their rivals. One of the features of this station is its architecture, which is inspired by a church-style design. The reason for this choice is the station's proximity to the Saint Sarkis Armenian Church on Karimkhan Street. ⛪️ The church built over the tombs of the three priests from the Mede people who, according to local legend in Iran, followed the star and heralded the birth of Christ. 🇮🇷 St. Mary Church is an ancient Assyrian church located in the city of Urmia, Iran. The current old building of the church belongs to the Sasanian era and its interior design is a combination of Sasanian and Arsacid architecture. A Chinese princess, who contributed to its reconstruction in 642 AD, has her name engraved on a stone on the church wall. The famous Italian traveller Marco Polo also described the church in his visit.
