AI Productivity Index (APEX) is the first benchmark that measures how well AI models perform real-world, economically valuable work. We partnered with former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers (Lawrence H. Summers), former McKinsey managing partner Dominic Barton, legal scholar Cass Sunstein (Cass Sunstein), cardiologist Dr. Eric Topol (Eric Topol), and dozens of other experts to evaluate model performance on real deliverables across law, finance, consulting, and medicine. Behind every great hire is someone who made the intro. So far, we’ve paid over $1M to people who simply shared a link. That's because great people know great people, and we’ve built a system to reward them. Mercor’s referral network is shaping the future of work, connecting top engineers, lawyers, doctors, and domain experts with frontier AI labs.

At Mercor, we connect PhDs and researchers with high-paying, high-impact work training shaping the future of frontier AI models. This year, we expanded that mission with the Mercor Graduate Fellowship, awarding $50K to students doing extraordinary work. We’re excited to introduce one of our 2025 fellows: Neil Band. Neil is a third-year Stanford CS PhD student researching how to make language models safer and more reliable. His work tackles hallucinations, uncertainty calibration, and advanced reasoning in LLMs. With the support of this fellowship, Neil can focus on pushing the boundaries of trustworthy AI, taking on more ambitious, forward-looking research. We're proud to support Neil as he builds the future of trustworthy AI.
