NEW: Sadiq Khan has announced 5,000 more street trees in high heat-risk areas to help cool London. Great to speak to @BBCLondon about the 640,000 trees planted since 2016, part of 8 million across London, helping cool temperatures by up to 6°C. Next: 10% more canopy by 2050 🌳

My parents came to London believing tomorrow could be better than yesterday. The Downs Estate gave that hope a home. The University of Greenwich gave it purpose. London gave me the privilege to serve.

NEW: Sadiq Khan has announced up to 5,000 additional street trees in areas most at risk from extreme heat. As London gets hotter, access to shade matters - but not every community has equal access to green space. That’s why we’re targeting trees where they’re needed most ☀️🌳

For the first time ever, Londoners are breathing cleaner air, with pollution now within legal limits - 184 years earlier than predicted. That’s down to bold leadership from Sadiq Khan - delivering the world’s largest clean air zone ✊🏼✊🏾

This one is personal. My family came here as asylum seekers and were met with compassion, love and community. I know first-hand what happens when people are met with a warm welcome, not hostility. That’s why I’m running the London Marathon this weekend for @ChooseLove.

London is a city built by migrants, proud of its diversity, where you can be who you are and love who you love. That’s why the far right - whether in the UK or across the world - can’t stand us. Glad to set the haters straight on the The Fabian Society Thinking series.

London is a city built around its rivers. Once declared biologically dead, the Thames is thriving again - thanks to the super sewer diverting millions of tonnes of pollution. This year, we’ll set out our plan to clean all 41 rivers across London over the next decade

NEW: I’m delighted to announce the Hackney Central and Pembury Circus Green Corridor — the biggest public realm investment in Hackney’s history. With 229 traffic collisions since 2017, people can no longer afford to wait. This is why we are taking action ⬇️

I’m proud of what we’ve achieved to clean up London’s air. Our ambitious action meant we hit legal pollution limits almost 200 years early, but there’s still more to do. That’s why I’m backing #CleanAirNight to share the facts about wood burning.
